Are you in search for a new series that is rich in spirit, entertaining in nature, delivers quirky charm and features irresistible animals?

Look no further than All Creatures Great and Small. The new Masterpiece production brings James Herriot’s written adventures as a veterinarian in 1930s Yorkshire — and the iconic cast of farmers and townsfolk who lived and worked with him – to life in this seven-part series. Exciting newcomer Nicholas Ralph makes his television debut as the recently hired (and recently qualified) vet at Skeldale House, located in one of England’s most beautiful landscapes.

Rounding out the cast of delightful characters is Samuel West (Mr. Selfridge) as Siegfried Farnon, the eccentric veterinary surgeon and proprietor of Skeldale House, who reluctantly hires Herriot into his rural practice; Anna Madeley (The Child in Time) as Mrs. Hall, Skeldale House resident housekeeper and matriarch; Callum Woodhouse (The Durrells in Corfu) as Siegfried’s errant and charismatic younger brother Tristan; Rachel Shenton (The Child in Time) as local farmer’s daughter Helen Alderson; and Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter) as Hugh Hulton, a wealthy landowner and rival for Helen’s affections. And the series boasts one of the last performances by the late Diana Rigg (Victoria, Game of Thrones) as the wealthy Mrs. Pumphrey (not to be upstaged by her overly indulged Pekingese Tricki Woo).

NBC News’ cultural critic raved about the new adaptation, calling it not only “pastoral perfection,” but also topping off the review with, “Sometimes all television (and the world) needs is someone with a gentle heart big enough to care for all creatures, great and small.”

Tales of country life in the North of England are re-imagined from the 1970s for a modern audience, introducing a new generation to Herriot’s life-affirming stories the iconic vet with inspiring humor, compassion and love of life.
