HYPOTHESIS

If an actual animal cell is like a model of an animal cell, then I will be able to see ____ out of 8 organelles because__________________________________________________________________________________________.

MATERIALS

scalpel a slice of meat – chicken, beef, pork, or crab. 1 microscope slide 1 slide coverslip A drop of iodine Apron

PROCEDURES

Put on your apron Select your meat Using the scalpel, make a very thin slice of

the meat that you chose. Mount your meat on the slide using a drop of

iodine to hold the coverslip in place. Look at the meat under the microscope,

using the 4 power first, then the 10, then the 40.

Record what you see under data.

DATA

Record what you see under the microscope using the 3 different powers. Please use words and drawings.

CONCLUSION

Claim: The animal cell compares to a model of an animal cell because_____________________

Evidence: Out of the 8 organelles that I can see in a model of an animal cell, I saw _________________ in the real cell.

Reasoning: A model/real cell is better for learning the part of an animal cell because ___________________.
