Although our economy may be showing signs of improvement there may be some in our community who are still experiencing the challenges caused by a tough economy. However, we know that if we keep our focus on our goals, we will make it through rough times. It is so amazing how quickly the year passes! As we enter into another holiday season let us all remember to be thank-

ful for the blessings we are given each day. Although our

economy may be showing signs of improvement there may be some

in our community who are still experiencing the challenges

caused by a tough economy. However, we know that if we keep

our focus on our goals, we will make it through rough times.

The NASA family is continually thankful for the strong sup-

port from our community family and we wish each of you a HAP-

I like different shades of blue. What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is the Sandlot. What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is The Daughters of Juarez by Te-resa Rodriguez. What is your favorite place?

My favorite place is my home because I love being around my family. Who is your hero?

My hero is my father. What is your favorite holiday?

My favorite holiday is Christmas because it brings all my family together. Why do you like working at NASA?

Even though I have only worked in NASA for two months, I can say I enjoy the atmosphere and I feel rewarded by being able to help the students each day.

Ms. Mejia Did you know that Ms. Mejia is not only one of our amazing kinder-garten teachers, but she has also

written, produced, and directed a short film! Ms. Mejia is from Co-lombia and has been in the United States for 15 years! She also has a fashion blog, loves to travel, and enjoys photography. One more fun fact is that Ms. Mejia rocked a Mohawk when she was 16, talk

about style!

Ms. Marin Did you know that Ms.

Marin does not only do

a remarkable job as a

T.A. for second grade,

but she has also creat-

ed murals for several

LAUSD schools through-

out Los Angeles (Santee Highschool, Ev-

ergreen Elementary, Compton Ave, and

Frank Del Olmo)! Ms. Marin sold her

first painting on canvas titled

“Vuelo,” last year at a thanksgiving

fundraiser for Legacy LA! She also

loves to read

all types of

books, and

has a partic-

ular affinity

to Chicano

writers! One of Ms. Marin’s murals!

This year’s fall festival took place at

our Loma campus. Our NASA students and

families were able to participate in dif-

ferent carnival game booths, eat delicious

food, win exciting prizes, and experience

a whimsical maze!

This year our students can par-

ticipate in our extracurricular

clubs! The clubs are open to stu-

dents from transitional kinder-

garten to 5th grade! Students can

join our dance, running, or soc-

cer clubs. We have two teams for

each club, one for Tk-2nd grade

students and another for 3rd-5th

grade students. The coaches are:

Ms. Yoana– Running (3rd-5th)

sites. Our new parent liai-

sons, Ms. Silvia Chavez and

Ms. Floricela Martinez, will

help guide and educate parents

on different volunteer oppor-

tunities and resources availa-

ble to them. Their main pur-

pose is to bridge the gap be-

tween the school and our fami-

lies. Our parent liaisons aim

to start English and computer

classes. Please stop by and

let them know what resources

you would like to have at

Que incredible lo rapido que pasa el año! Como entramos a otra tem-porada Navideña, hay que recordar ha agradecer las bendiciones que recibimos cada dia. Aunque puede haber algunos en nuestra comuni-dad que estan pasando por tiempos dificiles por una economia dificil, sabemos que si mantenemos nuestro enfoque en nuestros objetivos, lo haremos a traves de tiempos dificiles. Ms. Mejia ¿Sabía usted que

Ms. Mejía no sólo

es una de nuestras

increíbles maes-

tras de kinder,

pero ella también ha escrito, pro-

ducido y dirigido un cortometraje!

Ms. Mejía es de Colombia y ha es-

tado en los Estados Unidos durante

15 años! Ella también tiene un blog

de moda, le encanta viajar, y dis-

fruta de la fotografía. Otra cosa

divertida es que Ms. Mejía tenia un

Mohawk cuando tenía 16 años, que

estilo!

Marín no sólo hace un

El festival de otono se llevo acabo en

Loma. Nuestros estudiantes y sus famili-

as participaron en diferentes juegos de

carnaval, comieron comida deliciosa, ga-

naron premios interesantes, y tubieron

la oportunidad de entrar a un laberinto

magico!

Este año nuestros estudiantes pueden partici-

par en nuestros equipos extracurriculares! Los

equipos están abiertos a los estudiantes de

kinder transiciónal a quinto grado! Tenemos

equipos de baile, correr y de fútbol. Tenemos

dos equipos de cada club, uno para estu-

diantes de Tk-segundo grado y otro para

estudiantes de tercero-5to grado. Los en-

trenadores son:

Mr. Benavides-Futbol (3rd-5th)

Mr. Castro– Correr (TK-2nd)

Ms. Yoana– Correr(3rd-5th)

educar a los padres sobre las

diferentes oportunidades y recursos

disponibles para ellos. Su princi-

pal objetivo es formar una conec-

cion entre la escuela y nuestras

familias. Nuestras coordinadoras de

padres pretenden iniciar clases de

computación e Inglés. Por favor,

pase por el centro de padres y

haiganos saber cuales recursos les

gustaría tener en NASA! Nos vemos

en el Centro de Padres!
