A New Self Driving Car

Summary

• A new self driving car is roaming the streets of London. The car is made by Google and the UK government. They want to invest 20 million euro’s (29 million dollars) in eight self driving cars. They tested the car in Mountain View, California, and Austin, Texas. It was also tested in Kirkland ,Washington to see if the car could be driven in hilly terrains and under rainy weather. The car is powered by electric batteries. The car also uses sensors and advanced software to travel safely.

How it works.

• Sensors help detect objects all around us. The software classifies objects based on their size, shape and movement pattern. The software predicts what all the objects around the car might do next. This self driving car nudges away from the cyclist or other cars, then slows down to yield to the pedestrian. They have already been tested so it is safe to “drive”.

Why

Self driving cars are much more safe than normal cars because no one will get into car crashes be drinking and driving, being sleepy, being lazy ect. Car crashes will be reduced dramatically. Also many lives would be saved faster since every doctor can help the patient. If we didn’t have self driving cars one doctor will be driving while the others help the patient. Self diving cars can help us a lot.
