1 Equipment data is collected and sent from the

control panel or BMS servers to a middleware

server

2 Enterprise data warehouse (MS Feedstore)

provides a feed of contextual information (building

type, headcount, etc.)

3 Middleware server aggregates all on-site data and

stores it for transmission to relevant off-site vendor

apps

4 Azure Connect service provides secure data

transfer over the cloud

5 Vendor solution collects data from Microsoft and

3rd-party weather data and electricity consumption

data provided by the utility

6 Output is shared with Microsoft’s building engineers

though a web-based interactive graphical interface

7 A team reviews the faults and alarms that have

been identified and notifies engineers accordingly.
