Sunday 22nd August Fly In • This weekend we would like to invite all pilots to come and visit EGAD, Newtownards.

• All landing and parking fees are waived from 20 – 22nd August 2021.

• The Ulster Flying Club will be holding an open day for the general public to visit our facilities.

• Local accommodation is available and pilots are more than welcome to camp on the airfield.

• PPR is recommended, please visit www.ulsterflyingclub.com/ppr

• Overnight Hangarage is limited. Please request on PPR form above.

• Departure Taxi Routes from Grass Parking ALL AIRCRAFT – should taxi westbound on ~A~ and make an initial call to Newtownards Radio reporting “ready for departure” RW03 – Taxi via RW26, western taxiways to RW03 RW15 – Backtrack RW15, vacate onto RW03 GRASS, then taxi via grass taxiway RW21 – Backtrack RW15, vacate onto RW03 GRASS, taxi to end expect full length RW21 RW33 – Backtrack RW33

• Departure Taxi Routes from Main Apron RW03 – Backtrack RW03 vacate RW26 and taxi via western taxiways to RW03 RW15 – Cross RW03, Backtrack RW03 GRASS, then taxi via grass taxiway RW21 – Taxi to RW21 HOLD RW33 – Backtrack RW03, turn left to Backtrack RW33

Arrival & Departure Procedures

Arrivals

• Aircraft arriving from the east / south will be able to route directly to the airfield below 2000ft.

• Aircraft arriving from west / north will have to coordinate with Aldergrove Radar 133.125 and

Belfast Approach 130.850.

• Inbound traffic to Newtownards will be speaking to Belfast Approach on 130.850. Belfast will ask

pilots to free call Newtownards Radio and we recommend you call us around 10nm out if possible.

Departures

• Aircraft departing to the north are recommended to use Groomsport VRP

• Aircraft departing to the west are recommended to use Saintfield VRP

• Aircraft departing to the east / south can plan a direct routing below 2000ft.

• After departure please contact Belfast Approach on 130.850.

• Usually Belfast Approach will hand aircraft to Aldergrove Radar for northwest flights through

Aldergrove zone but it is the pilot’s responsibility to ensure that clearances are received for both

zone transits

General Aviation Report

• The ‘Prevention of Terrorism Act’ requires that all flights to & from Northern Ireland, The Isle of

Man and the Channel Islands shall take place between ‘Designated Airports’ unless notification has

been given in advance to the Chief Constable of the Police Force responsible for the airport.

• Newtownards Airport is NOT a designated airport and therefore notification must be given. The

normal minimum period of advance notice is 12 hours as outlined in the footnote to the GAR form.
