THANK YOU NOTE
Dear College Street Family, About 43 years ago, Julian and I joined College Street Baptist Church. We knew then that it was a loving and compassionate family of God. It has overwhelmingly been proven to me even more in these last few weeks. I cannot begin to thank you enough for the love you have shown me through visits, gifts, help when I needed it and most of all your prayers to my Heavenly Father. Please continue to pray as I adjust to the new normal for my life without my precious Julian.
I love you all,
Ann Yelton

Children’s Ministries - Lauren Beddingfield, Director of Children
Hello CSBC!
This winter has been a whirlwind! To catch you up, at C-Street Kids, we are finishing up our series titled “How to Be a Superhero”. Each superhero theme touches on a certain aspect of Christian character and compares it to a trait of a superhero. For example, the Flash moves fast and God wants us to move fast to help others who need us. After the Passion Play, we will have a couple of lessons focusing on Easter and then we will start a new series called “Kids of the Bible” which features lessons on Biblical children such as Miriam, Samuel, and Josiah.
We’ve also started a pen-pal program with the members of our Golden Fellowship Club. Some of our older children still need a pen pal so if you are interested in writing cards and building relationships with our children, please let me know! The kids are super excited about this new initiative to build bridges between age groups and make some new friends!
This summer on Wednesday nights, we will be starting a new Wednesday night summer program called “WOW Wednesdays”. At WOW, kids will be learning a new Bible verse each Wednesday night throughout the summer as well as engaging in several different types of fun activities! Our Bible Quest volunteers have really taken the reins on getting WOW started but we need your help! If you can volunteer even ONE night during the summer at one of our WOW activities, please contact me or Vanessa! We would love to get you signed up! I’m really looking forward to WOW beginning the week after Vacation Bible School and hope that you will get signed up to help us out!
Also, if your 3-5 grade child is interested in joining us this summer for KidSalt, we still need a male chaperone and we need your kids to sign up! Don’t forget, the $50 deposit is due on April 1
st!
I am looking forward to being a part of the Passion Play this year! I am so thankful for everyone who is involved and for all of your hard work! Hope to see you at one of the presentations of “Alive! Forever!” ~Lauren
Ken’s Korner From Ken Our church vision statement says that we are a “loving and compassion” church. In recent weeks, we have seen that love and compassion shown in a number of ways as some of our families and friends have gone through very difficult times. I want to commend our church family for all the ways that you have reached out to minister and show that love to others.
At our recent Deacons meeting the discussion turned toward “helping our shut-ins and elderly”. The love and compassion was so evident as the men discussed how we can be pro-active in reaching out and helping those we love so much.
I was reminded that “Home Partners” began as an attempt to go into homes to do small repairs. As the years went by that effort began to expand and we have indeed done some really “big” projects along the way.
In an effort to return to the roots of our Home Partnering, the Deacons and staff are implementing an effort for everyone to get involved in “loving and showing compassion” to others.
First, if you have a need for small repairs, gutter cleaning, light bulbs being replaced, stopped up sinks, minor repairs, etc., you can call the church office with your request. Your deacon will be contacted to see if he is available to help meet the need. If they are not available, we will turn to staff and others to help meet the need.
Second, if you know of someone that has one of these needs, but you think that they might not call the office, you can call for them.
Third, if you are not currently serving as a deacon or just want to help, please call the church office to have your name added to the “helper” list.
This is not something new but it is something that can impact our church and community. The Bible says in James 1:27 - “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
I look forward to seeing how this ministry of love will grow and go in the days ahead.
- Ken Reid, Pastor
