Prevention There is no known prevention for DPn’s. The diagnosis is based primarily on the appearance of the growths.Treatment The treatment of DPn’s in most cases is considered cosmetic. These lesions are often removed with an electrical current or a radiofrequency current that causes the lesion to dry up and fall off. This procedure minimizes the damage that may occur to the pigmented cells in the normal skin. laser removal, though more costly, can also be used to remove both types of lesions. Patients can also use lotions that may make the smaller lesions less scaly and less likely to itch. Sarna lotion or AM lactin-AP, neutrogena anti-itch lotion, Aveeno anti-itch lotion, or Prax gel

are all over-the-counter products that may help. The treatment of asymptomatic and not medically necessary lesions is considered cosmetic. These lesions can be treated if you would prefer for cosmetic reasons, but the insurance will not pay to remove these lesions.Prognosis DPn’s are usually benign and usually painless conditions. removal of the growth is simple and usually does not normally result in scars. However, treatment of the growths may leave permanent lighter-colored or dark spots in the treated sites. The treated skin growths usually do not recur after removal but you can develop more lesions in the same area.

Dermatosis Papulosa nigracans (DPn’s) or “Flesh Moles” are small, skin growths that more commonly occur in African American, Asian, and Hispanic skin. When the growths are examined under the microscope, they are similar to seborrheic keratosis. These lesions often occur on the face and neck area.
