Daughter Of Babylon USA1) The daughter is not the mother

• If there is a daughter, there must be a mother; and although a mother and daughter can share the same name they are not the same person

• Prophetically, the DAUGHTER of Babylon is a distinct entity from the MOTHER

1. The MOTHER is Babylon THE GREAT

Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

• GREAT= “large, as opposed to little (Lev 11:17; Deu 14:16; Amo 6:11) or small (Deu 1:17; 1 Chr 25:8; 26:13; 2 Chr 31:15; Jer 16:6); strong (Isa 53:12); none like it (Jer 30:7; Matt 24:21)”

• The term THE GREAT is designated to SOMEONE to distinguish them from all others who have the same name, due to notable achievements whether they be noble or notorious

Note: There is only ONE Alexander the Great, Cyrus the Great, Herod the Great, Constantine the Great, Charles the Great (“Charlemagne”), Otto the Great, Frederick the Great, Catherine the Great, Peter the Great, etc.

significance • The mother is called Babylon THE GREAT to distinguish her from all other

“Babylons”- Who/what are the other “Babylons”? • Since Babylon THE GREAT (Rev 17:5) is also called THE GREAT whore (Rev

17:1; 19:2) it is reasonable to conclude that the other “Babylons” are WHORES

Rev 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

Rev 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

• Since Babylon the great is THE MOTHER of HARLOTS, and harlots are generally FEMALE, it is also reasonable to conclude that the other “Babylons” that are whores/harlots are the DAUGHTERS of Babylon the great

• DAUGHTERS may be called BABYLON but only the MOTHER is called BABYLON THE GREAT

Daughter Of Babylon USA2. The MOTHER (Babylon the Great) is the only “Babylon” of Revelation

• The “Babylon” of both Revelation 17 and Revelation 18 is called BABYLON THE GREAT (17:5; 18:2) and there can only be ONE Babylon THE GREAT (16:19), and that is the MOTHER (17:5)


Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN REVELATION 17-18 (supporting ONE Babylon) 1) She is called BABYLON THE GREAT (17:5; 18:2) cf. (16:19) 2) The kings of the earth have committed fornication with her (17:2; 18:3) 3) The inhabitants of the earth (i.e.- all nations) have been made drunk with the wine of her

fornication (17:2; 18:3) cf. (14:8) 4) She is clothed in purple and scarlet (17:4; 18:16)

• There are also differences between Revelation 17 and Revelation 18 that have served as the basis for teaching that there are two separate ENTITIES (i.e.- two “Babylons”) in Revelation 17 and 18

• The popular teaching is that Revelation 17 describes a city/system that is the RELIGIOUS or MYSTERY Babylon and Revelation 18 describes ANOTHER city/system that is the POLITICAL or LITERAL Babylon

• Since both are called Babylon THE GREAT and there can only be ONE “the Great”, and there at least eight additional similarities, it is reasonable to conclude that Revelation 17 and Revelation 18 describe the SAME Babylon (not SEPARATE Babylons), just from two different perspectives

• The differences identify those two different perspectives

• Revelation 17= presents Babylon the great from the RELIGIOUS/POLITICAL perspective

• Revelation 18= presents Babylon the great from the COMMERCIAL perspective

• The two perspectives are connected by the phrase THAT GREAT CITY, which appears 1x in Revelation 17 (17:18) and 4x in Revelation 18 (18:10,16,19,21), because they refer to the same CITY (i.e.- “THAT great city” not “THOSE great cities”)


• The POLITICAL perspective of Babylon the great is represented in Revelation 17 (not Revelation 18) by (1) her SITTING upon the BEAST and the TEN HORNS (17:3); and (2) the revealing and transitionary statement that she is “that great city, which REIGNETH OVER THE KINGS OF THE EARTH” (17:18)

• The BEAST is the ANTICHRIST (17:8) and the TEN HORNS are the 10 KINGS that rule under him in the final form of the Roman empire) (17:12)

3. The MOTHER (Babylon the Great) is the FIRST Babylon


• MOTHER= “a female parent; a woman who has borne a child; that which has produced anything; that which has preceded in time; the oldest or chief of anything; an appellation given to an old woman, matron, or a woman who exercises care and tenderness toward another”

• Babylon the Great is the mother OF HARLOTS, and harlots are FEMALE, so it is reasonable to conclude that these harlots are DAUGHTERS of Babylon and came AFTER the mother

• The imagery of a WHORE/HARLOT in scripture is used to represent something that perpetuates (spiritual) PERVERSION (i.e.- that which is contradictory to what is PRESCRIBED by the word of God) for PROFIT

Daughter Of Babylon USAThe Bible prescribes the bounds for SEXUAL activity and relations- they are to be between one man and one woman within the confines of marriage so any relations outside these bounds (regardless of how the participants feel about each other) constitutes FORNICATION and is a PERVERSION The Bible also prescribes the bounds for SPIRITUAL relations- man is to worship the one true living God and him alone, in spirit and truth, and the only way to come to him is through faith in his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ so any relations outside these bounds constitutes SPIRITUAL FORNICATION and is a PERVERSION

• The harlot epitomizes fornication and SEXUAL perversion so any entity or ideology (religious, political, economical, philosophical, or scientific) that engages in and/or promotes SPIRITUAL fornication; that seeks to create and profit from idolatry (physical idols or idols in the hearts of men) is a HARLOT system

• All spiritual harlot systems can eventually trace their lineage back to a single source, their MOTHER- the system created by Nimrod at BABEL (Gen 10:8-11)

• This system was the beginning of the post-Flood godless WORLD system and it was scattered abroad the face of all the earth after the confusion of tongues (Gen 11:1-9)

• It existed before the Flood as THE WAY OF CAIN (Gen 4:8; 1 John 3:12; Jude 1:11) cf. (Matt 23:35-36)


A HARLOT system meets one or both of the following conditions 1) Entities or ideologies that give any false gods/idols the place that should only be

occupied by the one true living God 2) Entities or ideologies that promote that one can come to God or attain salvation

any other way than through his only begotten Son Jesus Christ and him ALONE

• All false religions (e.g.- Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taosim, Confucianism, Kabbalah, New Age mysticism, Wicca, Satanism, etc.) are harlot systems

• All false churches and Christian cults (e.g.- Church of Christ, Seventh-Day Adventist, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, etc.) are harlot systems

• All worldly philosophies (e.g.- Atheism, Communism, Capitalism, Environmentalism, etc.) are harlot systems because their “idols” are science, nature, man, government, or wealth (money)


All false religions, false churches, Christian cults, and worldly philosophies are HARLOTS and DAUGHTERS of Babylon the Great

Daughter Of Babylon USA4. The MOTHER (Babylon the Great) is a CITY (not a country)- ROME

• If Babylon the great was a country, then Revelation 14:8 could have said she was that great COUNTRY (or NATION) that made all NATIONS drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, but it says she was that great CITY

• She is called a CITY 9x in Revelation: (1) THAT GREAT CITY 6x (14:8; 17:18; 18:10,16,19,21); (2) THAT MIGHT CITY 1x (18:10); (3) THIS GREAT CITY 1x (18:18); and (4) CITY 1x (18:18)

• She is that great city, which REIGNETH (present tense) over the KINGS of the earth (17:18) so she is a CITY-STATE with global POLITICAL power

• She is a city that John was familiar with in 96 AD and could identify based on the revelation of 17:18; otherwise, the angel lied when he said he would tell John the mystery of the woman (17:7)

• The only city in 96 AD that was reigning over the kings of the earth was ROME • How can she be ROME and also the Babel under Nimrod? How can she be

ROME and be called BABYLON? That is why she is a MYSTERY (Rev 17:5)

Daughter Of Babylon USA5. The MOTHER (Babylon the Great) is the anti-CHURCH- What we know today

as THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

• The imagery and symbolism of a harlot is used to represent something guilty of SPIRITUAL FORNICATION for profit because a harlot epitomizes FORNICATION and SEXUAL PERVERSION

• Babylon the Great is called a WHORE 4x (17:1,15-16; 19:2) and specifically THE GREAT WHORE 2x (17:1; 19:2), in contrast to the true church which is called a chaste VIRGIN (2 Cor 11:2)

• She is the great whore that SITS upon MANY WATERS (i.e.- peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues) (17:1,15) so she is a CHURCH-STATE with global RELIGIOUS power

Rev 17:1,15 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

a counterfeit of the NEW JERUSALEM

GREAT CITY which is home to the true CHURCH (Eph 5:31-32) • ROME is THAT GREAT CITY which is home to the ANTI-CHURCH • Rome is called “the Eternal City” and “the city of God”- names that can only

apply to the new Jerusalem • Rome is also called “the mistress of the world”, and rightly so
