I hope this newsletter reaches you
safely and that you and your Ohana
are happy and healthy.
Throughout this past year, the resort
team has been working very hard
to maintain the service excellence with aloha, as well
as to find new ways to improve the product and service
the resort provides. It has been great to welcome so
many families back “home” to your island getaway.
I have spoken with many owners who love what we have
been able to accomplish and who share our excitement
about what is to come. We enjoy getting feedback, so
we can focus on the areas that are important to you.
The associates here are motivated and challenged to
create the best environment and experience for all to
enjoy. We encourage all owners to interact with us in
many ways. It is outstanding to talk to you in person
while you are visiting. In addition, don’t forget about the
Hyatt Residence Club Facebook page and Instagram
account. Additionally, you might be proud to know that
your Hyatt Residence Club Resort is very highly ranked
in TripAdvisor on Maui. Mahalo to many of you who have

New Management Associates have recently joined the
Ohana here at Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach and we would like
to introduce them to you.
Don and TonyDon Ratcliff is our new Chief Engineer. Don and his
wife have lived on Maui for several years now. Prior to
joining our team, he was working in a similar position
at a nearby resort. Don has a wealth of experience in
facility management. He has held positions as Facilities
Manager, Projects Manager, and Operations Manager for
several companies. Don has a passion for woodworking
during his time off.
Tony Tullbane is our Recreation Manager. He and his
family moved to Maui from Texas and we are very
fortunate to welcome him aboard. Tony held a similar
position for many years in a country club and is a certified
first aid/CPR trainer. He also has a background as a
swimming instructor. Tony is a perfect fit for this position
at Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach. When not at work, Tony is
likely exploring Maui with his wife and boys.

Resort News
Renovation Update Many of you have been surprised that a brand new
building is already undergoing renovation work, but
indeed this has happened. It was discovered soon after
opening that some aspects of the facility did not meet
the needs of the resort, and plans were taken to address
the areas of concern. In the earlier part of 2016, we
installed two gas boilers to supplement heat to the
pools with great success.
In fall 2016, some significant work was made to modify
the resort Lobby and entranceway to assist in mitigating
wind and rain that would flood the Lobby during
inclement weather. The goal was to maintain the open-air
feel and function of the Lobby, but still have the ability
to adjust when Mother Nature decides to bless us with
liquid aloha and strong winds.

Another enhancement designed to address wind issues
was introduced near the barbeque areas and towel hut
area. Decorative windscreens, designed to lessen the
impact of the often gusty winds that blow through this
area throughout the year, have been installed. At peak
times, these winds have been strong enough to blow
over barbeque grills and break pool umbrellas. We even
had the top of a palm tree blow off. We hope that these
enhancements will make the keiki pool more enjoyable
as well.
Looking ahead to 2017, we are looking for ways to
improve and increase our shade options around the
pool, as well as to introduce some additional recycling
containers throughout the property and much,
much more.
