WWW.PSHFES.ORG ISSUE 1, 2020 THIRD QUARTER A Message from the President Dear PSHES members: Greetings! We wanted to let you know that PSHFES is alive and well! During these difficult times, we are working hard to provide safe and meaningful events for PSHFES members to participate with us and the broader HFES community. I hope you have enjoyed the recently concluded free Webinar (Industrial Exoskeletons 101) sponsored by our local chapter. PSHFES is planning a virtual symposium for 2020 on September 17th, so save the date (see Page 2)! We will be hosting some great speakers with engaging content as well as great information from our sponsors and their latest offerings. The event is tentatively scheduled to last six hours and will have thought-provoking talks as well as virtual interactions with sponsors. If you can’t attend the entire event, that is okay, as there will be a wide range of content presented throughout the day. Please keep an eye on your inboxes as we update you with the program agenda. We look forward to seeing out at the event. Thanks again for supporting PSHFES. See you soon at the 2020 Annual Symposium! Dear PSHES members:

Greetings! We wanted to let you know that PSHFES is alive and well! During these difficult

times, we are working hard to provide safe and meaningful events for PSHFES members to

The mission of Ergonomics in Design (EID) is to improve the usability of design. It’s read by a wide range of professional designers, as well as human factors/ergonomics professionals and academics. It provides information about both physical and cognitive ergonomics/human factors that designers, engineers, and social scientists who work with design teams can use.

What types of articles get published? We’re looking for articles that:• Describe new methods for making design more usable.• Provide case studies of successful application of human

factors/ergonomics to design.• Describe interesting research findings that have

implications for design decision making.

EID articles cover a wide range of applications, including:• Product design—e.g., consumer products, robotics,

office equipment, medical devices• Environmental design—e.g., architecture, wayfinding

systems• System design—e.g., transportation, voting systems,

emergency-response systems• Information design—e.g., software interfaces, signage,

warnings, instructions• Process design—e.g., services, manufacturing systems

Why should I submit my work for publication in EID?Publishing in EID is a way to expose your work to a wide audience of designers, engineers, and social scientists who work in design. And EID is a refereed journal, so an article published in EID carries something of a warrant for its validity.
