From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time: “He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.” (Matthew 14:29). When you hear Jesus calling, do you responded immediately and trust that He knows what He’s doing? If so, you are walking on water! When we say “yes” to Jesus, we feel the power of his presence in our lives. We can feel the freedom it gives us! Listen how Jesus is calling you to live the extraordinary life He has in mind for you.

1 Kings 19:19a, 11-13a: Recognizing the presence of God in our lives usually occurs after the wind dies down. In stormy times, our fears and confusion can deafen us to the subtle, quiet ways in which God reveals provident love. Or we can look back at times of turmoil and see that God truly was at work in us even though our distraction kept us from noticing.

Romans 9:1-5: Paul’s lament is poignant and touching. All that benefits Christians belongs to the Jews: adoption, glory, covenant, law, worship, promise, patriarchs and Jesus himself in his human origin. We should allow ourselves to be moved deeply by Paul’s sorrow, and to acknowledge anew our indebtedness to our Jewish brothers and sisters.

Matthew 14:22-33: The miracle and Peter’s doubt have inspired artwork throughout the centuries. There is a great deal more in Matthew’s intent than the apparent miracle of walking on water. The acclamation of the disciples at the end of the story (“Truly you are the Son of God!”) comes closer to explaining why Matthew told the story in the way that he did. The real miracle here is the victory over fear and doubt, which only Jesus can conquer.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

FAVORITE QUOTE: "If we really want to love, we must learn how to forgive." ~ St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

A LESSON IN SHARING: (submitted by Marti Quakenbush) A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'

Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!"

SMART MAN: (submitted by Marti Quakenbush) A police recruit was asked during the exam, 'What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?'

He answered, 'Call for backup.'

BEAUTIFUL ENGLISH I called an old school friend and asked what he was doing. He replied that he is working on "Aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminum and steel under a constrained environment".

I was impressed. However, on further enquiring I learned that he was washing dishes with hot water under his wife's supervision.
