Holy BaptismDuring the 5pm Worship Service, we welcome Frederik Irving into St. Paul’s church family. He is the

son of Geoff & Erika Pirkl. His sponsors are Derek & Ruthie Pirkl and Elissa Pfaender. We will keepFrederik in our prayers.

Flash photography is not allowed during a baptism which takes place during the worship service. The pastor mayreenact the baptism after the service for picture-taking opportunities.

Re-Engage, (August 2020):There are the two adjustments to our current worship plan:

1. As you can see, we have started printing and distributing the bulletin. Please take the bulletin

home or place it in recycling at the back. DO NOT return it to anusher/elder.2. Per the Governor’s order on Thursday, July 30th and through September28th, a mask is

required at all services. The Governor’s FAQ document says: “You need to wear a facecovering whenever you are indoors or in an enclosed space, other than a private residence,

and other people are present in the same room or space.”3. Beginning August 8th, the Saturday night service—for the time being—will be a required mask

service.

We reiterate our appeal for help withcleaning teams to make worshipas safe as reasonably possible

under the current conditions.

Are you looking for a way to serve? We are looking for Video & Audio Volunteers to helpstream the weekly services at 8am on

Sundays as we expand our A/V Evangelism. This is fun stuff! Are you curious as to what needs tobe done? What’s all involved? Informational meetings to see how it all operates and how youmight “fit” in will be held on Monday, August 17th, at 7pm andSaturday, August 22nd, at 10am in

the church balcony. This is just an informational meeting and no commitment is required. Our hopeis that after you see what it entails, you will want to be part of the production team. Our goal is to

have a pool of people on the roster so that you can select a service once a month or so tohelp out. The team consists of Video Switcher, Camera Person, PowerPoint Operator

and Audio Mixer. Don’t worry, we will completely train you. Who knows? You may havea new career! Contact Larry Hansen---email [email protected] or call 414-712-0300 for

more information.

Summer lakeside worship servicesOur Lakeside Summer worshipservices will run through August 26th at 6:30 pm in our backyard byFowler Lake. Please bring a chair! The sermonwill be that of the weekendprior. If there is inclement

weather, the worship service will be moved to the church nave. We needcleaning teams of 3 peoplefor these service. If you are willing to help, please contact the church office at 262.567.5001.

Of Basics and AbundanceThe LORD callsus to Himself. We come to Him “and eat what is good, and delight … in richfood.”(Is. 55:2–3) In the Feedingof the 5,000(Mt 14.13-21) this is precisely what Jesusdoes. Iti s a feast that makes abundance from basics, establishesJesus’ divinity, foretells the great, eternal feast to come, and displays Christ’s divine compassion to save us from sin and death andto feed us with Himself. He—Jesus—is the Savior for whom Israel longed and from whom Hewas called. (Rom 9.1-5) He—Jesus—ŝƐƚŚĞKŶĞǁ ŚŽĐŽŶƟŶƵĞƐƚŽĐĂůůƐŝŶŶĞƌƐƚŽ, ŝŵƐĞůĨĂŶĚĨĞĞĚthem with the feast of forgivenessthat give rest to our souls.

The Catechism: The Lord’s Prayer—First Petition

The Lord’s Prayer (First Petition)

Hallowed be Thy name.

Preschool +

What does this mean?God’s name is certainly holy in itself,

but we pray in this petition that it may be kept holy among us also.

2nd Grade +

How is God’s name kept holy?

God’s name is kept holywhen the Word of God is taught in its truth and purity, and we, as the children of God, also lead holy lives according to it.

Help us to do this dear Father in heaven! But anyone who teaches or lives contrary to God’s Word

profanes the name of God among us.Protect us from this, heavenly Father!

THE NINTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Isaiah 55:1-5“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for thatwhich does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delightyourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul

may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, surelove for David. Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader andcommander for the peoples. Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know,

and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD yourGod, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.”

Romans 9:1–5I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me

witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in myheart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for thesake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and

to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, theworship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

St. Matthew 14:13–21Now when Jesus heard [about the death of John], he withdrew from there in a

boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followedhim on foot from the towns. When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he

had compassion on them and healed their sick. Now when it was evening, thedisciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over;send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” But

Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They saidto him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” And he said, “Bring themhere to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the

five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then hebroke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to

the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve basketsfull of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousandmen, besides women and children.
