Belga Cafe's Daniel Mahdavian says that Bart Vandaele's upcoming BToo restaurant is about three weeks away from being finished. But a recenttour of the space, still under construction, shows some of the detail work for theBelgian restaurant beginning to emerge.
Those include bright orange chairs, the outline of the waffle bar to come (itwill seat about 14), and mosaic-like tiles in the entranceway, designed byNatascha Folens. The restaurant will seat 199 people, with an openkitchen, a wall of wine near the stairs, and a leather-topped bar and privatedining area on the bottom floor of the space.
Vandaele's team began work on the space last summer, and an April opening isstill being targeted by the restaurant, which will offer brunch all day, twists onBelgian favorites and an extensive beer selection.
