2014 Ford F-150 Maintenance Schedule
As with any car, it is important to take care of your new Ford F-150 by taking it into the
dealership for its scheduled maintenance, to help prevent any avoidable damage to the
engine and other systems. When buying your car, whether it is new or used, your
dealership will inform you of major milestones to prepare for so that your truck gets
serviced before anything happens to it. Auto repair costs are on the rise, as drivers in the
South, including Texas, paid over 11 percent more on repairs in 2012 than 2011,
according to U.S. News and World Report. Working with Jack Key, your Ford El Paso
dealer, on your maintenance schedule will help you understand how each service will
improve performance and durability so you can keep your F-150 on the road.
F-150 30,000-Mile Maintenance
When you buy an F-150 new or slightly used, you will come upon the 30,000-mile mark
within a few years, depending on your daily driving habits. In addition to changing your
oil and replacing the oil filter, it is important to take your truck to the dealership to have
the following services performed:
Inspect Automatic Transmission Fluids
Inspect Braking System
Inspect Engine Cooling System
Inspect Exhaust System
Inspect Front Axle and U-Joints
Inspect Half-Shaft Boots
Inspect Steering and Suspension
Inspect Wheels
Replace Engine Air Filter
Rotate Tires
This preventative maintenance will help find and diagnose any issues with your F-150 so
you can have them repaired. If your warranty is still in effect, the cost of new parts and
installation (if needed) may be covered.
F-150 60,000-Mile Maintenance
In addition to the maintenance performed at 30,000 miles, it is also a good idea to have
your systems inspected further when you reach the 60,000-mile mark. Your service
technician will ensure that your truck is in excellent shape and, if anything is wrong, you
can have the necessary parts replaced. Changing your spark plugs, changing the
differential fluid, and flushing the brake fluid should also be considered when you get to
60,000 miles. Talk to your mechanic about having an induction service completed, and
replace the belt in your engine, if need be.
F-150 90,000-Mile Maintenance
Upon reaching 90,000 miles in your Ford F-150, you will want to once again take it in for
a multi-point inspection. Ford also recommends the following maintenance, in addition to
those at the 30,000-mile mark:
Replace Climate-Controlled Seat Filters (If Equipped)
Check Wheel End Play and Turning Noise
Inspect Cooling System and Hoses
Inspect Complete Exhaust System and Heat Shields
Inspect and Lubricate All Non-Sealed Steering Linkage, Ball Joints, Suspension
Joints, Half and Drive-Shafts, and U-Joints
Check with Jack Key, your Ford El Paso dealer, to get information on current
maintenance specials, as well.
F-150 100,000-Mile Maintenance
Once you have driven 100,000 miles in your F-150, you will reach a major milestone in
the life of your truck. This is the perfect time to take it in for a tune-up to make sure your
truck is in top condition. In addition to rechecking everything above, a certified
technician will inspect your accessory drive belt(s), replace spark plugs, and change the
orange coolant.
A simple oil change every 3,000 miles will not be enough to ensure that your truck is
running as it should be. To learn more about the recommended maintenance schedule for
