NARCAN/NALOXONE
Narcan/Naloxone is an approved medication for thetreatment of opioid overdose and is a key riskreduction strategy that reduces overdoses and savelives. It is safe and easy to use.
OB providers should counsel and prescribeNarcan/Naloxone for all patients with Opioid UseDisorder (OUD) and co-prescribe for all patientstaking opioids regularly.
Share with patients that it is important for allwomen who are prescribed opiods or have OUD tostay safe because opioid medications can causeslowed breathing and even overdose. Narcan/Naloxone is an antidote that can reverse anoverdose. Having this medication on hand can belife saving for patients and their friends or family.
