Alamo Metro ChorusHappy New Year New scal year that is and Alamo
Metro started it o in a big way Who better to install the
new Management team
than our very own SAI
president Joan
Boutilier We were so
fortunate to have Joan
install our ocers at
our Zoom Installation
and awards celebration It was a fun night with ALL of our members being honored for
surviving and thriving during what most would call the worst year ever Many individual
awards were presented as well and we had several special ldquocelebrityrdquo guests pop by Betty
Clipman Anne Downton and Erin Howden all dropped in
to say a few encouraging and motivating words of
wisdom These ladies were among the many wonderful
coaches we were able to work with via Zoom this past year
and we are so grateful for their inspiration At the
following Zoomhearsal we had the opportunity to be
joined by the fabulous Visual Communications judge
Judy Pozsgay Judy expertly guided us through the
changes in what was formerly known as the
Showmanship category Judy is also the bass of our 2017
Queens of Harmony ldquoFrenzyrdquo and is an excellent teacher
We had our third Hybrid rehearsal with a few more
members attending and we look forward to our fourth
one this coming week While things are certainly not back
to ldquonormalrdquo they are denitely moving in the right direction

The Baton Rouge Chapter of Sweet Adelines is focusing
on increasing our membership and revitalizing our
chapter after being sidelined for much of 2020 We are
developing new marketing strategies like no other year
to achieve our goals of bringing in new members and
greatly increasing our visibility to the Greater Baton
Rouge We want to make sure they know we are lsquoopen for
businessrsquo and what we are all about We recently held a
chorus meeting to get everyone red up and on board
with looking for new members inviting back previous
members recruiting more young members and doing
their part to make all of our visitors feel welcome and comfortable at our rehearsals
We have resumed in-person rehearsals complete with lots of those lovely choir lsquoduck
masksrsquo We are continuing to oer the option of virtual attendance for any members that
may not feel comfortable just yet with real live rehearsals Itrsquos also a great way to allow
prospective members to take a peek and a listen to us till they are ready to attend in
person Now that the management team has discovered the convenience of Zoom
meetings looks like those are here to stay
Good luck and harmony to all of us in navigating the future

Crescent City Sound ChorusApril 24 2021 A special day in our chorus
history It was the rst time that we could
gather indoors to harmonize together It
was such a wonderful experience to nally
see so many beautiful singers together in
harmony We had several hours to visit
sing and give socially distanced hugs We
adhered to all of the safety precautions to
make everyone comfortable and safe We
liked it so much that we are doing it again
In fact we are working towards a regular in-person schedule We are also making plans for
coaching later this year and a show by the end of the year The last year has been tough on
all of us but we are tougher And we have become better singers because we had each other
and we did not quit

Chisholm Trail ChorusChisholm Trail Chorus has had a month of
steady progress We enjoyed three Zoom
weeks of sisterhood education and
singing with director Holly Ritter and her
members of Sugar Land Sound Chorus
(Last month I mentioned that we started
this three-week cycle by sharing a visit
with coach Molly Human) It was
especially fun to meet and greet each other putting names and faces together week to
week It was a great connection for both groups
Chisholm Trail is also enjoying our partnership with the Temple TX Salvation Army
Womenrsquos Shelter We are making it a community outreach project to do ldquosomethingrdquo each
month to show we care We began in April collecting for the May project which was
dedicated to small personal hygiene-related items dividing them into decorative bags

and delivering them to be distributed to
the shelter ladies around Motherrsquos Day
There were enough items to make 25 gift
bags and enough extras to be shared later
Included with this project were low
denomination gift cards Sta members
told us that the residents were teary eyed
as they opened all the goodies in the bags
ndash they felt like someone cared about
them I think itrsquos amazing that this small
chorus of approximately 23 active
members can be so cheerfully kind-
hearted and generous Irsquom proud and humbled to be part of this group And whatrsquos the
project for June Peanut butter and jelly for their food pantry
Throughout our COVID rehearsals on
Zoom one of the highlights for me
continued to be video instruction from
Kathleen Hansen I especially enjoyed the
session about ways to practice music on
your own Self-evaluation using a
recording device isolating trouble
sections rather than practicing the whole
song and not being afraid to experiment
were three of my favorite points Irsquove
never met her but she has made an impact
on the way I think about practice You
might want to look her up and get some refreshing ideas
AND to end our news for this time we would like to proudly announce that we are BACK
rehearsing in person at our pre-pandemic location -- the Cultural Activities Center in
Temple TX As of this report we have had one rehearsal in person masked distanced and
SINGING It was SO exciting to see all the members at check in (temp check covid questions
and liability paperwork completed) and we already know there will be more returning next
week We immediately jumped right in to working on our chorus sound and we had a little
laugh that we werenrsquot as bad as we thought we might be In fact we actually sang through
one of our new songs that we had learned only on Zoom and had NEVER sung it together
beforeand we made it to the end It was so encouraging after FOURTEEN MONTHS of
ONLY Zoom rehearsals
I mean thank goodness for Zoom Nothing wrong with Zoom Zoom has really been SO
helpful and our Board plans to continue meeting in that format We are now ready for in-
person rehearsals and so many of us feel comfortable being together after our vaccines
There is light at the end of this tunnel

Houston Horizon ChorusHello Region 10 Houston Horizon has been working on our music considering what songs
might be included in a holiday show toward the end of the year and OH YES welcoming our
very rst virtual member She is in the process of becoming a member and we are looking
forward to the day that we can hug on her in person and welcome her into the fold Houston
Horizon is also excited to share that we have a new mom in our midst A couple of weeks
ago Becky R and her hubby brought home their daughter and the chorus is so excited for
the 3 of them Next time you see Becky ask her to show you picturesIm sure shell show
you tons of them HHC continues to schedule hybrid rehearsals and Mother Nature
continues to mess with us Our latest hybrid rehearsal plan had to be shelved when the
rains came The rain also messed with our chorus garage sale that had to be postponed
until Saturday May 22 Were still going to be at Ellie ODells home in the Rosenberg area
and were still going to be there from 8 am to 2 pm And we are still wanting to see Region
10 members come and shop and take home all kinds of treasures that day For more
information on the garage sale please contact your favorite HHC member
Until next time

Singing was a very important thing to Pam She sang in church solos duets with her
brother with other family members and friends and with Sweet Adelines In 1988
after reading in the paper about EastTexas Accent Chorus in region 10 she called a
phone number They had gone to competition So for their next rehearsal members
picked her and a friend up After one visit she was a Sweet Adeline for life
After East Texas Accent Chorus(Region 10) dissolved due to no having enough
members (21) she became a member of Lake Harmony Country Chorus (Region 25)
She sang lead and bass She was the pitch pipe master
In addition she was a dual member of Twin City Sensations(Region 25) she went to
Harmony Classic in Honoulu Hawii in 2013
Pam also sang in two quartets 4-Ever Friends(Region10)and Vocal Bs(Region 25)
In December 2020 Lake Country Harmony transferred to Region 10
In addition to her singing skills Pam also served as Management Team member and
held oces including President and Treasurer
Pam is survived by her husband Steve two sons Rusty and Josh a daughter-in-law
two granddaughters a brother two sisters and other family members and a host of
friends
Pam had a thirty year career in banking and real estate
Pam will be sorely missed by all who knew her

The Woodlands Show ChorusGreat NEWS The Woodlands Show Chorus is back
HOME Since May 3 we returned to in-person practice in
our pre-Covid rehearsal space at First Presbyterian
Church in Conroe It has been a long time for sure but it
feels like coming home
Over a year ago we began to meet on Zoom each week
and then once last Fall we met outside at chorus
member Annette Quimbyrsquos home After the rst of the
year we started having a hybrid style rehearsal where a
limited number of people could register to attend in
person while the rest could observe and participate on
Zoom We met at a dance studio and did a COVID check-
in each week prior to entering the room In addition the
TWSC tech crew set up Zoom from the studio It was more eective for the Zoom friends to
hear real voices with our director coaching real people rather than only singing along with
recordings When the amount of in-person attendance increased the management team
made the decision to check back in to our regular rehearsal space So far itrsquos been great
We are following the guidelines of the facilities and it was SUCH a welcome return We even
had TWO guests on the very rst night back The Zoom crew is still providing a Link for
those at home but the majority of the chorus is back spread out on the risers and in the
fellowshipgym space We are mixed
masked and working hard It was
exciting to be able to break o into section
rooms and with our phones even took our
Zoom friends with us It feels so wonderful
to be at a ldquosort ofrdquo normal stage in this
journey
We are extremely happy to be singing
together and look forward to even more of the restrictions being lifted SOON Especially
since we are already preparing for our December show (Shameless plug Mark your
calendar December 4 2021 Sts Simon and Jude Catholic Church 26777 Glen Lock Dr The
Woodlands TX 77381)
Also we had another uplifting
ldquohappeningrdquo this past month - an
amazing recognition night on April 26
Hosted by our Team Leader Elizabeth
McCurdy we celebrated everything from
Perfect Attendance to Summit awards for
each section and lots of honors in
between All the photo memories were expertly compiled by several of our visual artists
(Claudia Lassiter Kerri Mauney Elizabeth McCurdy and others) Each presentation was so
unique and personal Right before Betty Clipman our director signed her contract there
was a very special video where our members sent in comments about why we think shersquos
wonderfuland it must have done the trick because she signed her contract right then and
there
Even though the evening was presented on Zoom there were several ldquowatch partiesrdquo
where members gathered in small groups in-person to enjoy the evening together
watching the presentations Congratulations to all of the award winners

HOME Since May 3 we returned to in-person practice in
our pre-Covid rehearsal space at First Presbyterian
Church in Conroe It has been a long time for sure but it
feels like coming home
Over a year ago we began to meet on Zoom each week
and then once last Fall we met outside at chorus
member Annette Quimbyrsquos home After the rst of the
year we started having a hybrid style rehearsal where a
limited number of people could register to attend in
person while the rest could observe and participate on
Zoom We met at a dance studio and did a COVID check-
in each week prior to entering the room In addition the
TWSC tech crew set up Zoom from the studio It was more eective for the Zoom friends to
hear real voices with our director coaching real people rather than only singing along with
recordings When the amount of in-person attendance increased the management team
made the decision to check back in to our regular rehearsal space So far itrsquos been great
We are following the guidelines of the facilities and it was SUCH a welcome return We even
had TWO guests on the very rst night back The Zoom crew is still providing a Link for
those at home but the majority of the chorus is back spread out on the risers and in the
fellowshipgym space We are mixed
masked and working hard It was
exciting to be able to break o into section
rooms and with our phones even took our
Zoom friends with us It feels so wonderful

unique and personal Right before Betty Clipman our director signed her contract there
was a very special video where our members sent in comments about why we think shersquos
wonderfuland it must have done the trick because she signed her contract right then and

Even though the evening was presented on Zoom there were several ldquowatch partiesrdquo
where members gathered in small groups in-person to enjoy the evening together

We have resumed in-person rehearsals complete with lots of those lovely choir lsquoduck
masksrsquo We are continuing to oer the option of virtual attendance for any members that
may not feel comfortable just yet with real live rehearsals Itrsquos also a great way to allow
prospective members to take a peek and a listen to us till they are ready to attend in

meetings looks like those are here to stay
Good luck and harmony to all of us in navigating the future

Crescent City Sound ChorusApril 24 2021 A special day in our chorus
history It was the rst time that we could
gather indoors to harmonize together It
was such a wonderful experience to nally
see so many beautiful singers together in
harmony We had several hours to visit
sing and give socially distanced hugs We
adhered to all of the safety precautions to
make everyone comfortable and safe We
liked it so much that we are doing it again
In fact we are working towards a regular in-person schedule We are also making plans for
coaching later this year and a show by the end of the year The last year has been tough on
all of us but we are tougher And we have become better singers because we had each other
and we did not quit

Chisholm Trail ChorusChisholm Trail Chorus has had a month of
steady progress We enjoyed three Zoom
weeks of sisterhood education and
singing with director Holly Ritter and her
members of Sugar Land Sound Chorus
(Last month I mentioned that we started
this three-week cycle by sharing a visit
with coach Molly Human) It was
especially fun to meet and greet each other putting names and faces together week to
week It was a great connection for both groups
Chisholm Trail is also enjoying our partnership with the Temple TX Salvation Army

and delivering them to be distributed to
the shelter ladies around Motherrsquos Day
There were enough items to make 25 gift
bags and enough extras to be shared later
Included with this project were low
denomination gift cards Sta members
told us that the residents were teary eyed
as they opened all the goodies in the bags
ndash they felt like someone cared about
them I think itrsquos amazing that this small
chorus of approximately 23 active
members can be so cheerfully kind-
hearted and generous Irsquom proud and humbled to be part of this group And whatrsquos the
project for June Peanut butter and jelly for their food pantry
Throughout our COVID rehearsals on
Zoom one of the highlights for me
continued to be video instruction from
Kathleen Hansen I especially enjoyed the
session about ways to practice music on
your own Self-evaluation using a
recording device isolating trouble
sections rather than practicing the whole
song and not being afraid to experiment
were three of my favorite points Irsquove
never met her but she has made an impact
on the way I think about practice You
might want to look her up and get some refreshing ideas
AND to end our news for this time we would like to proudly announce that we are BACK
rehearsing in person at our pre-pandemic location -- the Cultural Activities Center in
Temple TX As of this report we have had one rehearsal in person masked distanced and
