On February 12th, Big Meadows held a Valentine’s Couples Lunch for all of our married couples. We had 13 couples attend our lunch. The longest married couple was George and Marion Siedenburg with 64 years of marriage. The couples who attended were: Lyle and Dona Duhme (63 years); Frank and Joann Hernandez (63 years); John and Rita Nagel (62 years); Wayne and Millie Wilke (60 years); Lyle and Barb Hartman (58 years); Gaylord and Delores Solberg (58 years); Maxwell and Mabel West (48 years); Donna and James Nye (43 years); Harvey and Janet Spoerl (36 years); Richard and Cindy Cram (33 years); Thomas and Ellen Lilleberg (30 years); and Paul and Linda Schindel (30 years). On February 17th, the Furry Friends Traveling Petting Zoo came to Big Meadows to visit. As always all of us here love seeing all the animals.

On February 19th, the Dance 4 Joy Dance Troop came and performed for Big Meadows Residents in the Dining Room.

Big Meadows Monthly Community Coffee will be held on Wednesday, March 9th in the main Dining Room at 9:30am. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy coffee, a donut, and conversation.

Easter Dinner will be on March 27th at 11:30am. Our menu includes: Ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet pota-toes, and other delicious menu items. The cost is $5.00 per person and please RSVP on or before March 18th .

Please continue to save plastic caps for our bench project. We thank everyone who has been

donating and please keep up the great work.

Big Meadows is collecting plastic caps/lids to make a bench for the Connections Unit courtyard. We are going through a company called Green Tree Plastics, LLC. You may have seen some of these benches around. We ask that you start saving and bring what you save to Big Meadows. We need 400 pounds! What does that look like? The caps will fill approximately 10 55 gallon yard waste/trash bags! What items are acceptable and what aren’t? Acceptable caps: medicine bottle caps, milk jug caps, detergent caps, hair spray caps, toothpaste tube caps, deodorant caps, drink bottle caps, flip-flop caps (ketchup, mustard), spout caps (mustard), spray paint caps, ointment tube caps, caps with Recycle numbers 2, 4 or 5. Acceptable lids: cottage cheese container lids, mayonnaise jar lids, yogurt lids, peanut butter jar lids, ice cream bucket lids, cool whip container lids, coffee can lids, cream cheese container lids, butter container lids. Never acceptable items: metal or trash of any kid: drink bottles, plastic ziplock bags, trigger sprayers, fast food drink lids, food containers, soap pumps, lotion pumps, grocery bags. If you have additional questions, please contact Stan Schleuning at Big Meadows at815.273.2238. Thank you for all the lids that you have brought in and please keep saving!
