JOHN 18: 33-37 (NIV) “Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, ‘Are you

the king of the Jews?’ ‘Is that your own idea,’ Jesus asked, ‘or did others talk to you about me?’ ‘Am I a Jew?’ Pilate replied. ‘Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?’ Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.’ ‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’”

CALL TO WORSHIP: L: We call upon your presence, Lord, to show us mercy; P: Fill our hearts so that we may share it. L: We call upon Your presence, Lord, to show us grace; P: Provide us with the opportunities to give it. L: We call upon Your presence, Lord, to show us your will; P: Give us the focus and perseverance to follow it. Amen. HYMN “Oh Master, Let Me Walk with Thee” No. 665 CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Prayer of Confession: (in unison)

Lord Jesus, we come to you today in thanksgiving for the ways in which you make your presence known in our lives. Each new day is an opportunity to serve you. We confess that this opportunity to serve sometimes goes untouched. We admit that the world’s ways often detract us from your mission for our lives. We pray that you will not only forgive us, but that you will also help us to fix our eyes on you. Help us to follow your will. Remind us that our identity comes from you and your love endures forever. Amen.

Announcements for November 25, 2012

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

The all church Christmas dinner will be held on Sunday, December 9th, at 6:00 p.m. in Souers Hall. The cost will be $20.00 per person. Entertainment will be provided. The catered meal will be a choice of herb crusted prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables or chicken breast in cherry port wine sauce with wild rice pilaf and steamed vegetables. Both choices include salad with raspberry vinaigrette, rolls and butter, Christmas punch, coffee and dessert.

Only 175 tickets will be sold – no reservations, first come, first served.

THE HANGING OF THE GREENS

This year the Hanging of the Greens, a favorite church tradition, will be on Sunday, December 2nd, at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. There will be our usual singing of favorite carols while families hang wreaths as well as fellowship and enjoyment of wassail and Christmas goodies. New this year will be the focus on medieval circle dances, which furnished the first Christmas carols that have come down to us. Not only will we hear some of the beautiful, very old carols, but we will also see circle dances performed by children of the 4C Choirs.

POINSETTIAS - NEXT WEEK

Poinsettias will be sold in the breezeway after the 8:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. services on Sundays, December 2nd and December 9th. This is a chance to remember a loved one, praise someone or simply spread the spirit of Christmas with the enduring red bloom that represents a deep love for Jesus. The poinsettias will be displayed in the Sanctuary and Souers Hall during the Christmas season with the honorees’ names listed in the bulletin. Price is $10.00 cash or check made payable to The Church at Litchfield Park with “Poinsettias” in the memo line. You may take your poinsettia home after the Christmas Eve service you attend. For more information, call or email Derek or Tammy Urban (623) 218-6404 or casaurban@yahoo.

NURSING AND CRY ROOM

The Fireside Room South is available during service times if you have a baby that needs one-on-one care. The service is shown on the TV by a live feed from the sanctuary so you can still hear the sermon and music. Please contact an usher if you would like directions to the room.

MISSION SPOTLIGHT

Super Storm Sandy Relief…

One of our national mission outreach organizations is Church World Service. This organization helps with natural disasters each and every year. With a portion of the 2011 congregational donated dollars to be used in 2012, $2,000 from the Mission budget was sent to assist with the distressed areas hit by Super Storm Sandy. Please keep those individuals and families in your continued thoughts and prayers.

Christmas Tree Project…

The Youth Group and Mission Committee have joined forces for a special Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) Christmas Tree Project. We will have a keepsake Christmas ornament that you can purchase for $25. Each ornament will represent the bond between HYC and The Church at Litchfield Park. When you purchase this ornament to hang on your own tree, it will in turn be converted to a $25 gift card that will be given to the youth for Christmas. Our goal is to make our Christmas tree bare so the kids of the HYC may have a Christmas filled with hope. Please keep an eye out for this upcoming project offered for 2 Sundays only – December 2nd and 9th.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

“Happiness: Get It and Keep It God’s Way” continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in Fireside Room – North. Pastor Jim is leading this study of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12.

WELCOME TEAM NEEDS YOUR HELP

As the holidays approach and we go into a new year, you are needed more than ever. The only requirement for this committee is to be friendly and treat people the way you recall being treated when you were first coming to The Church at Litchfield Park. Assisting the committees in greeting people at the information booths is a wonderful way for you to meet and get to know people as well. Handout information is well

stocked at each booth. Escorting people to the nursery or Sunday school classes is helpful – all little things that make people feel more at home. No meetinigs are required; just your presence with a smile. For more information, see Janet Albert at the Information Booth or at [email protected] or (623) 466-9439.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS

Join us on Wednesday evening for a multitude of activities and opportunities for the whole family. Fish “N” Chips, slaw and brownies will be served at 6:00 p.m. A host of programs will begin at 6:45 p.m. See the bulletin for more information, or call the office at (623) 935-3411.

BIBLE STUDY

Join the Wednesday Night Bible Study for a Ray Vander Laan video and study on “Prophets and Kings” Wednesday evenings, in Zieske Hall. Each of the six weeks stands alone, and there is no required advanced reading. Just come for fellowship, prayer and study of the Word. Class begins at 6:45 p.m. and is facilitated by Jane Way. Child care is available.

THE CLP CAFÉ

Looking for a place to unwind and socialize on Wednesdays? The CLP Café will be available from 4:30 – 7:45 p.m. in Souers Hall. You can come and just relax, use Wi-Fi, work on homework, play cards, or have a cup of coffee “on the house.” This is a come and go event to enjoy

when bringing children to activities or catching up with friends. Hope to see you there!

REC ROOM!

G.O. Kids (God’s Own Kids) has a Rec Room in Classroom 3 on Wednesday evenings for grades K – 5. There are supervised recreation, games, and activities from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. before dinner.

OPEN ARMS BENEFIT

Mark you calendars for a night of fun, friendship and music to benefit Open Arms Home for Children in Africa featuring award winning gospel and contemporary music artist Robert Robinson. The event will be held on Saturday, December 1st, at the Wigwam Resort in the Sachem Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. A pasta dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. followed by the concert at 8:00 p.m. Admission is complementary but a free-will offering benefiting Open Arms will be taken at intermission of the concert. Donations that are clean and in working order are always welcome, and almost everything is accepted. Donations may be dropped off Friday, November 30th, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., or you may contact Monica Sproull (623) 935-2656 or Millie Ezell (623) 935-3953 to schedule an appointment.
