Direct Emissions
These sources are the result of leakeage of chemicals from refrigeration and AC devices. •Types and amounts of refrigerants used
Direct 3.0: Refrigerant and Air Conditioning
Vehicles which generate emissions through the burnign of fuel.• Fuel usage of city owned vehicles
Direct 2.0: Mobile Source Emissions
Sources that combust fuel onsite, like generators.• Natural Gas bills
Direct 1.0: Stationary Combustion
The City of Fredericksburg does not utilize fire suppressants that emit significant amounts of greenhouse gases.
Direct 4.0: Fire Suppresion
Sources that combust gas streams. •Regional Landfill •Old Cool Spring Landfill
Direct 5.0: Gas Waste Streams
Direct Emissions Source CO2 Emissions (metric tons)

Indirect Emissions
Fossil fuels are combusted in order to generate electricity. •Electric bills
Indirect 1.0: Purchases of Electricity
The City of Fredericksburg does not purchase heat nor steam; therefore, no data collection was necessary.
Indirect 2.0: Purchase of Heat and Steam
Direct Emission Source CO2 Emissions (metric tons)
Purchased and Consumed Electricity 7,138

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Baseline Inventory For The City of Fredericksburg, VA
A baseline inventory of greenhouse gas emissions for Fredericksburg, VA for the fiscal year 2013
PROJECT BACKGROUNDThis emissions inventory accounts for the City of Fredericksburg’s greenhouse gas emissions during the fiscal year 2013. The inventory covers all city departments and their various emission sources.
In order to calculate each source’s emissions in a standardized manner, the EPA Simplified Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator (SGEC) was used. The tool’s methodologies and provided values are based on the most recent Climate Leaders Greenhouse Gas Inventory Protocol guidance.
Fredericksburg’s emission sources were identified and broken down into the following categories:
• Stationary Combustion • Mobile Source • Refrigerant and Air Conditioning Leakage• Gas Waste Streams • Purchases of Electricity
Data was then collected in order to quantify the emissions from each source.
