November 5, 2014 A Good, Good-Bye Well, the count-down is underway, as I have just three Sundays left to worship with you. It’s so hard for me to believe I have been your pastor for nearly a year. It feels so appropriate to me that I am saying good-bye in the season of Thanksgiving, be- cause I am especially mindful of feeling a sense of gratitude for my time here at New Hope. Here are just of few of the things I am thankful for: Your open embrace---you welcomed me as one you have known for years. Your willingness to try new experiences, especially in worship. Your respect for each other’s opinions and gifts—a mark of our denomination! Your growing commitment to nurture children and youth. Your ongoing efforts to explore ways to Nurture, Serve, and Connect, and in doing so, to live the Gospel in the world. Your eagerness to learn and grow—the Adult Sunday School class has been a great experience. The joy you share as you worship and fellowship together— New Hope is such a positive church and that joy is felt in worship. On November 23, we will share in a Farewell Ritual at the end of worship. These are just a few of the things I will take with me as I journey on to new leadership roles. I am excited about your future with Rev. Steve Chambers, and I have confidence that, with God’s help, you will create a fruitful future together. In our next newsletter, I will share some suggestions about how you might welcome him and create a smooth transition. In this season of Thanksgiving, I give thanks to God for this transitional time we have shared, With Deep Gratitude, Pastor Amy

A Good, Good-Bye

Well, the count-down is underway, as I have just three Sundays left to worship with

you. It’s so hard for me to believe I have been your pastor for nearly a year. It feels

so appropriate to me that I am saying good-bye in the season of Thanksgiving, be-

cause I am especially mindful of feeling a sense of gratitude for my time here at New

Hope. Here are just of few of the things I am thankful for:

Your open embrace---you welcomed me as one you have known for years.

Your willingness to try new experiences, especially in worship.

Your respect for each other’s opinions and gifts—a mark of our denomination!

Your growing commitment to nurture children and youth.

Your ongoing efforts to explore ways to Nurture, Serve, and Connect, and in doing so,

to live the Gospel in the world.

Your eagerness to learn and grow—the Adult Sunday School class has

been a great experience.

The joy you share as you worship and fellowship together—

New Hope is such a positive church and that joy is felt in worship.

On November 23, we will share in a Farewell Ritual at the end of worship. These are

just a few of the things I will take with me as I journey on to new leadership roles. I

am excited about your future with Rev. Steve Chambers, and I have confidence that,

with God’s help, you will create a fruitful future together. In our next newsletter, I

will share some suggestions about how you might welcome him and create a smooth

transition. In this season of Thanksgiving, I give thanks to God for this transitional

time we have shared,

With Deep Gratitude,

Pastor Amy

From Bread & Wine

to Faith & Giving

Recently you should have received a letter intro-

ducing you to this year’s Stewardship Campaign

entitled “From Bread & Wine to Faith & Giving

– A Journey Into the Spiritual Discipline of Gen-

erosity Around the Table of Jesus.” A pledge

card was included with that letter. Please

prayerfully consider your plan to support New

Hope Christian Church and its mission for 2015,

then fill out the card and return it to the church.

You may hand it to the Financial Secretary

(Priscilla Mann) or just place it in the offering

plate on Sunday morning.

Together we can make a difference in the fu-

ture of New Hope Christian Church.

New Hope Connects New Hope Serves NHCC Serving

At Refuge Fellowship NHCC will be serving at Refuge Fellowship

Church again on December 8th. There will be

a planning meeting on Sunday, November

30th after worship. Why not plan now to

plan? Come help make plans and then come

and help on December 8th as we minister to

our homeless neighbors in downtown

Oklahoma City.

Clergy Appreciation Month Thank You!

Thank you for recognizing Katy, Antho-ny, and me during Pastor’s Appreciation month. Honestly, New Hope is such a supportive congregation that I have felt appreciated EVERY month, but the gifts in the goodie bag were a nice bonus! Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Amy

Dear New Hope Family,

Thank you so much for your calls and

cards and your concern for me.

Special thanks to Amy for the Service of

Memory for my son, Eddie. It was just

perfect. And thank you also to Brad

and Anthony for the beautiful music

and to Sean for making the CD.

It is truly a blessing to have a wonder-

ful church family during a time of loss.

Nominating Process Underway The Nominating Committee is busy calling

people into leadership roles for 2015. With the

arrival of a new pastor, wouldn’t this be a

great time to try your hand in a new leader-

ship role? The body of Christ is made up of

many members with a wide variety of gifts. If

you receive an invitation to serve, keep in

mind that it is because others see that poten-

tial in you (whether you see it or not!). Let’s

all be in prayer for the Nominating Committee

as they carry out this important work:

Members: Marietta Combs, Penny Hampton,
