Collier Fitness Center will be closed from 26 August to 6 SeptemberOver the past few months there have been many hints regarding the revamping of the fitness centers here at USAG Yongsan. Through support of upper leadership, Command and through proper support from field experts, we are finally working towards bringing fitness to the 21st Century here at USAG Yongsan. The upgrades at both fitness centers (Trent & Collier) will assist with combat readiness, community fitness and the implementation of the new Army PRT as outlined in TC 3-22.20.
The days of Richard Simmons and jazzercise classes are something in the past, and will hopefully remain in the past. We are now moving onward to create an atmosphere that is focused on functional training, while still focusing on the community. With the purchase of a variety of fitness equipment, we will be able to offer a variety of group exercise classes, different methods of training and enhanced facilities to meet the needs of the community.
My goal has always been, and always will be, to bring to the community exceptional programs and exceptional facilities. I can personally say that with these upgrades, we will be moving in the right direction. However, as with any renovation project there exists some minor speed bumps. We are working diligently to settle these, but appreciate the understanding of the community. This is a huge renovation project, one which is long overdue, but will benefit the community as a whole. As the saying goes, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. We are also in the process of welcoming additional strength specialists to the department. This addition will allow our department to offer sports camps, personal training and more in-depth programs to the community.
I will be more than happy to meet with any individual regarding what is in store in the near future. As it stands now, there will be a re-grand opening of the fitness centers on USAG Yongsan during mid-October. During this time, the Collier will become the Collier Community Fitness Center, and Trent will become Trent Warrior Resiliency Fitness Center.
The confirmed date of construction are as follows:- Collier Fitness Center: 26 August-06 September (Classes will still be conducted and free weight room will remain open)- Trent Fitness Center: 7-15 September (closed for construction), 19-30 September (closed for equipment setup)
