Imagine you press a remote control button, and your transparent glass turns opaque instantly. Privacy on demand is impressive in its’ own right. Yet, you will achieve much more than privacy with this new technology. When the film is opaque you can actually write on your glass just as you would on any erasable whiteboard (on the glass side). Because the white is achieved with liquid crystals which let 92% of the light through, you can have a projector behind the glass (rear projection) turning your glass into a screen for whatever you want in HD or 4k. Privacy Film, also called PDLC film, whose light scattering power is adjustable by applying an electric field, is eminently suited to function as a rear projection display in the OFF state (opaque white). This means you can make your building’s glass into an advertising display by projecting a movie from inside. When the power is turned on, visible light scatters through the polymer liquid crystal and the film turns to an opaque white which lets light through, gorgeous when backlit; when power is off, the film turns clear and the glass becomes transparent again.
Responsive, electric, switchable film is composed of PET film, ITO film, polymer and liquid crystal molecules.You could buy it as adhesive or non-adhesive film (to apply on your existing glass), or pre-installed (sandwiched) into custom cut laminated glass.
