CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Merciful God, you made us in your image, with a mind to know you, a heart to love you, and a
will to serve you. But our knowledge is imperfect, our love inconstant, our obedience incomplete. Day by day we fail to grow into your likeness; yet you are slow to be angry with
your children. For the sake of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior, do not hold our sins against us, but in your tender love, forgive.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the
Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

FPCP is working more closely with our Presbytery and its program for foster children. Our prayer ministry can help by praying for all children in foster care. This month we are thanking God for our church family that helped to donate 168 backpacks fully stuffed with school supplies for children living in foster care in Wayne County. We are asking that our congregation pray this month for the lives of these children that will be carrying these backpacks to school each day. Please pray that each child will feel the love of God and work toward the potential that He gave them. If you are interested in helping with our foster care projects, please call Peggy at 734.953.1044.

Monday, September 26 @ 7:00 p.m. Bodies and Souls: The Tragic Plight of Three Jewish Women Forced into Prostitution in the Americas By Isabel Vincent In the second half of the nineteenth century, several thousand impoverished young Jewish women from Eastern Europe were forced into prostitution in the frontier colonies of Latin America, South Africa, India and parts of the United States by the Swi Migdal, a notorious criminal gang of Jewish mobsters. Isabel Vincent tells the remarkable true story of three such women who, like so many others, were desperate to escape a hopeless future in Europe’s teeming urban ghettos and rural shtetls. Bodies and Souls is a shock-ing and spellbinding account of a monumental betrayal that brings to light a dark and shameful hitherto untold chapter in Jewish history—brilliantly chronicling the heartbreaking plight of women rejected by a society that deemed them impure and detailing their extraordinary struggles to live with dignity in a community of their own creation.

Friendly folks to help out with ushering from September 2016 through May 2017. This is a fun and easy way to donate some time to FPCP. You will meet and greet members as they enter the Sanctuary or Upper Room, and pass the collection plates at the service. There are 2 ways you can help us out. 1. Commit to help one Sunday per month, on the same week and time each month (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,
or 5th Sunday of each month) 2: Sign up on a “Sub List” and you may be called when we need an usher for a certain Sunday. I will be sitting at a table in the Narthex after the service if you want to volunteer or have any ques-tions. You can e-mail me at [email protected], or call me at 734-453-1353, if you prefer.

Kids Hope USA is an early childhood intervenon program for at-risk children. Our church began this
program in the fall last year and 20 children in our community experienced a powerful truth in their lives.
That they ma=er. Close your eyes and imagine the power of that truth for a child whose life experiences or
circumstances have kept them from achieving academic or social success. As a mentor you have this ability
to change the life of a child through this powerful truth. Our church’s program is inving you to consider
