Whose Dignity? Whose Risk?

“Dignity: In all our interactions we will demonstrate profound respect for human dignity. We will be responsive and sensitive to the diversity among our clients and staff groups.”

The issue of respecting an individual’s dignity comes into play often in community care. On the one hand, health-care providers may find it difficult to balance a client’s dignity while ensuring that they receive the care that they need, especially when the client is living in, what the provider perceives as, a “risky” environment. On the other hand, frontline staff may put their own dignity at risk by exposing themselves to uncomfortable situations in a client’s home without ever reporting to their organization.

This November, the CEN would like to invite you and your organization to join us as we discuss the importance of respecting client and staff dignity when faced with challenging situations.
