Aims and restrictions of AM
• Balance of Body - Vitality– Soul - Spirit• Main aim AM is to support the self-healing
forces and the autonomy of the patients (‘salutogenesis’, Antonowsky)
• AM can function the most safe if integrated in primary care, and done or referred by doctors
![Page 11: A Dutch Anthroposophic Primary Health Centre 17 Slides (On Linked In)](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070303/54923db5b4795968598b4708/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Medications
• The balanced use of both natural and conventional medicines plays an important role
• Example: upper respiratory diseases, anthroposophical and conventional treatment compared:
![Page 12: A Dutch Anthroposophic Primary Health Centre 17 Slides (On Linked In)](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070303/54923db5b4795968598b4708/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)

Other related items to mention:• Network in the town: GP’s, pharmacies, hospital,
others• Participation in out-of-hours acute service (‘HAP’ =
huisartsenpost) • HIS: Medicom • Costs: feedback of health insurance (anthr. practices
are slighly cheaper than conventional practices)• GP-training (first and third year, Leiden)• Anthr.Med.-training (via www.nvaa.nl)
![Page 16: A Dutch Anthroposophic Primary Health Centre 17 Slides (On Linked In)](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070303/54923db5b4795968598b4708/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Complex and uncertain? AM:
• new concepts and tools to meet patients with e.g. psychosomatic and somatisation problems
• reduces the use of conventional medicines (like antibiotics) in a safe way with less costs, in this patient population
• gives inspiration for cohesiv teamwork and a good working climate
Anyway a challenge requiring further research!
