Candidates will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates must meet NBPTS eligibility guidelines. Teachers interested in using candidate subsidy funds to help with the fee MUST submit their NBC application through the program administrator. Louisiana State Action Legislation provides a $5,000 per year stipend, effective until 2007, for public school teachers certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. For year , the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has allocated funds to subsidize $2,000 of the fee for at least one teacher from each district in the state (public and nonpublic). The ODE will support the full fee for approximately 900 teachers.
