Sarah N. to Mrs. Grammens' Classes I believe that global warming does exist. I found

on the Environmental Defense Fund website that the U.S fire season has increased 78 days over the past 20 years. This number is tied closely to increased temperature and earlier snowmelt.

Jack A. - Ya but global warming causes both harsh summers AND!!! brutal winters....it affects all weather, not just heat more... less...

Charlotte S. - Which is why it's called global warming... (can you hear the sarcasm?)

Tommy J. to Mrs. Grammens' Classes Hello everyone! I've been wondering why people obsess about global warming. Sure, its bad and all

but aren't there more pressing issues right now? And why aren't we doing anything to stop it? We could have come up with an alternate fuel source by now, or even started mass producing electric cars!

Mrs. Still - I agree Tommy....we really need to start acting on some of our issues. We do so much "research" and say that things need to change....we need to act on these changes!! But with the economy the way it is....will it be affordable?? Katie E. - If they start mass producing elecric cars..my uncle and dad will be rich if someone hasnt already stolen their ideas to use roads as a source of electricity and to charge the cars, where there are special lanes that electric cars travel on... it was pretty cool the way they figured it out.

Mrs. Still - Katie....I am intrigued....as a physics teacher....the thought of a special lane that produces electricity????? Sounds WAY COOL!!

Ryan B. - These are all great ideas but once again I refer you back to Bradley's post. We have the ability to use these technologies, but the world can't just switch everything that is fossil-fuel powered into something else.

Jake R. - I agree with all of the ideas floating around in the conversation and i agree that we do need to switch to more efficient transportations. But I also know that in the past there have been massive temperature changes because of the Earth's cycles. I do think that we have caused a massive impact on our world but it isn't all because of the fossil fuels and polutions from cars and factories. We just need to all look at the real picture of the world. Plus the car companies are just looking to make more cash and the way they've made it is off of a slightly "cleaner" emitions but will not make a massive or substantial difference like they say.Just my view, wanted to get it out there. Austin F. - Switching to electric cars might make the problem worse. Most electic plants use coal to power thier generators (44% of american power plants use coal) and coal is a dirtier fossil fuel than oil.
