WHAT IS THE ECC? E C C -

WHAT IS THE ECC?

TH E HIDDEN PU RPO SE

According to ECC sources It com prises a “ broad front a lliance o f com m unity and re lig ious groups” . Its prim ary objective Is to bring an end to com pulsory m ilita ry conscrip tion . The ECC's main task is to concentra te its e ffo n s in th is regard on white South A fricans, as well as Coloureds and Asians, and to influence them against the SA Defence Force. In its argum ents against the SA Defence Force the ECC is deliberately tw is ting the facts . As an inte llectua l and one o f the future leaders in our country, it is essential tha t you should be fam ilia r w ith the true facts.

The ECC considers the SA Defence Force to be the m ilita ry w ing o f the ru ling N ationalist Party. Consequently, young men are conscrip ted to im plem ent and defend the Party’s po licy o( apartheid.

The rea lity

The SA Defence Force Is a nationa l defence force whose prim ary responsibility it is to pro tect the RSA and a ll its c itizens against foreign aggression and a cts o f subversion by ANC and PAC te rro ris ts and anarch is t gangsters. The SADF is the instrum ent of the S ta te to protect the security of our coun try and a ll its people.

L ike the defence forces or a ll W estern dem ocracies, the SA Defence Force renders Its services to the State. The government is the decis ion maker o f the State. The exclusive ro le o f the SA Defence Force is to execute government decisions, regardless o f w hich p o lit ic a l party is in power.

The system of com pulsory m ilita ry service Is the only acknowledged means by w hich jus t and equitable responsib ility can be apportioned to the popula tion to defend the nationa l security interests o f one's coOntry and its citizens.

C om pulsory m ilita ry service rem ains the sole guarantee o f uphold ing W estern dem ocra tic princ ip le s in the RSA. The SA Defence Force is com pelled to conscrip t a ll c itizens o f e lig ib le age for nationa l m ilita ry service, Irrespective o f the ir p o litica l a ffilia tio n s . Only by th is means can the people o f our coun try be pro tected against any possib le p o litica l m achinations contrived by a ru ling p o litica l party.

Com pulsory, as opposed to voluntary m ilita ry service, precludes any ru ling p o litica l party from transfo rm ing the defence force in to a p o litica lly o rientated power for enforcing and pro tecting the interests o l the party instead o f the security Interests o f a ll the co un try ’s citizens. Conversely, many black- ruled states o f A frica and a ll the Com m unist countrie s use the ir m ilita ry forces to susta in p o litica l dem agogues In power.

The ECC rejects m ilita ry service in the SA Defence Force, cla im ing tha t it p ro tects “ an unjust so c ie ty " that d isregards basic hum an rights to the m ajority o f Its people.

The rea lity

A ll reform s anhounced and introduced by the government are d iscarded by the ECC and other rad ica l and revolutionary groupings as su perfic ia l and cosm etic. On the other hand the ECC enjoys close tie s w ith revolutionary organizations such as the ANC and its front organizations. In turn, the ANC has o n ly one m ission and that is to seize power by forces o f arms, in tim id a tio n and o ther acts o f terror, and fin a lly to

establish a M arxist-Leninist order In South A frica. There are no basic human rig h ts e x is ting In Communist states. N otw ithstanding, through Its actions and a ttacks against the SA Defence Force, the ECC is promoting the aim s and objectives o f our country 's enemies. It ca lls on w h ite youth to re fuse to be conscripted in to the SADF — and to Join the ECC. In fact, the ECC cooperates c lose ly w ith the ANC as was evidenced on 27 November 1985 when a member o f the ECC executive Peter Hathorn, sa id In London: (Aida Parker Newsletter — May 1986)

"The ANC is now entering the e ffective stage o f their operations, due to the ECC’s w o rk"

According to the ECC every ind iv idual has the right to choose not to serve in the SA Defence Force.

The reality

• There is no coun try in the world wherein Individual citizens have the right to determ ine o r decide which laws, rules or regula tions are applicab le to them in terms of the ir personal p o litica l o r m oral convictions. If assessed according to C hristian princip les and Western dem ocratic standards, a ll Com m unist regimes must be regarded as unjust socie ties. Nevertheless, in a ll Com m unist coun tries every citizen is compelled to render com pulsory m ilita ry service. In no Com m unist state Is any ind iv idual or group cam paign against m ilita ry co nscrip tion o r any o ther state leg is lation to lerated. Those who a ttem pted to do so, have been h astily incarcerated in the Gulags or d ispatched to the salt m ines in Siberia.

Published on one of the ECC's posters recently, ca lling for support o f Its anti SA Defence Force campaign, Is the follow ing statement:

“ ECC Is committed to solutions to the conflic t on our country that do not involve m ilita ry o r police Intervention"

The rea lity

- This solution by the ECC w ill lead to revolutionary gangs (ANC te rro ris ts ) c o n tin u in g u nh indered to conduct the ir terror campaign and murders against all population groups in the RSA. The question arises: Does the ECC for one moment th ink that the ANC will lay down its arms, and end the ir terror campaigns should the Defence Force become ineffective as a result o f the ECC's efforts. The answer is simple: This is what the ANC wants.

ANC pamphlets make it clear that they are incapable of gain ing the country on the ir own. and that they will need internal assistance. The fo llow ing calls are made in ANC publications (ANC pamphlets. June 1985).

“ delay your call up, devise tactics o f resistance, and devote your energies to the most important immediate task — building a broad front to oppose the SADF".

Your task is to build organizations which are able to reach into homes, and win comrades fo r organized resistance."

Which organisations are these? W hy is it im portant that the Defence Force should be weakened?

From the above it is to be doubted whether the ECC is acting in the interests o f the m ajority o f South A frica’s citizens. Is it the ECC’s Intention to act as the leader In the p sycho log ica l cam paign against the RSA’s security forces, and to coordinate this action as pari o f the communist onslaught agalst the RSA and the West?

. a lte rnatie f w aarna d ie ECC se a k tiw ite ite lei sal oneindig slegter wees as die huidige toestand. “ White youth-refuse to be conscrip ted Into fhe S AD F. . . Join the antl-conscrlp tlon campaign".

“ The ANC is now entering the effective stage o f their operations due to the ECC's work."Peter H a th o rn . ECC b e s tu u rs lid o p 27 Novem ber 1985 te Londen. (A ida Parker Newsletter — Mei 1986)

Volgens die ECC Is d it d ie reg van elke burger om self te kies o f hy in die SA Weermag w ll diens doen o f nie.

Die Realltelt

- Daar is geen land in d ie wdreld waar individuele burgers self kan beslu it watter wette, regulasies. o f redls h u lle w il gehoorsaam op g rond van hu lle p e rs o o n lik e o o r tu ig in g s n ie . V o lg e n s W esterse. C h ris te lik e en d e m o kra tie se s ta n d a a rd e is a lle Kom munistiese bewinde onregverd:g en onaanvaar- baar.

I d ie n s n ie m aar is d it ’n g em ee nska p sp lig .

i, poging. Die volgende, oproepe word o.a. gemaak: ». (afkomstig u it ANC-pamftette Junie 1985)

"delay your call up. devise tactics o f resistance, and devote your energies to the most important immediate

j task — building a broad front to oppose the SADF".

Your task is to build organizations which are able to reach into homes, and win comrades for organized resistance."
