Next Generation
LUXURYCRUISINGCapturing the special care and attention to detail so highly valued here at Travel Counsellors, sailing on a luxury cruise combines exceptional amenities with impeccable, personalised service offering an extraordinary window to the world.
Oceania Cruises provide a great cruise, with fantastic cuisine found in the four specialty restaurants, with Red Ginger being the best Asian on land or sea.
We chose a Concierge Balcony this time, only because it allows us to reserve more dining, other than that the cabins are similar to a standard balcony.
The service was excellent at all times, with everyone always greeting you with a smile and available for short chats. A couple of the staff remembered us from our first cruise on the Riviera last year.

Celebrity Cruises has unveiled its latest iteration of the multi-award-winning Celebrity Edge cruise liner, now featuring the ultimate sensory experience with Eden, setting a new standard for luxury and innovation at sea.
Looking for an unparalleled fusion of nature, dining and performance? Eden indulges the senses through three distinct themes of chillful, playful, and sinful, as part of a transformative journey bringing passengers closer than ever to the natural elements of ocean and garden space.
Traditional experience and design is forgotten in Eden, replaced instead by an evolving stimulation of the senses through innovative fusion of colour, technology, art and performance, existing as a state of mind where passengers become lost in one of the grandest cruise liner features the world has ever seen.
Located on decks four, five and six, your journey through Eden begins with a walk through a unique art installation comprising a tranquil garden atmosphere, preparing you for a series of inspired room installations and the Eden Bar as the dramatic focal point.
ChillfulEden is an experience offering a true window to the world, with three stories of wrapped window glass ensuring optimal lighting and a mesmerising view out to the ocean. The day begins with a relaxed atmosphere, as soothing music is streamed through wireless headphones and sitar players providing a calming melodic presence. Eden café is open for breakfast and lunch, while the living library of plants and a tree of life installation winds as a multi-deck pathway inspired by the spiral shapes of nature.
PlayfulSegueing into the afternoon and Eden becomes a little more playful, with the culinary and performance themes ramped up a notch. Hands on culinary enrichment classes and cooking demonstrations can be enjoyed to both background and live music, all while savouring a cocktail from the Eden Bar freshly crafted from the selection of plants and herbs plucked within the vicinity.
SinfulEden closes in dramatic fashion after sunset, with the energy reflecting inwards in creating an extravaganza of sensory enchantment. ‘Eve at Eden’ reflects the pinnacle of cruise liner performance art, culinary treats, and nightlife. Upbeat music underpins digeridoo artists, magic and illusion as edenists weave in and out of tables as you are waited on in the most exciting fashion.
A dramatic solo dance and full interaction with guests as you eat ensures a fully immersive dining and entertainment experience comprising aerial contortion, before a vibrant crescendo encompassing a full cast of dancers and acrobats gets you out of your seat, before enjoying a sinful dessert and drinks at the bar as part of an unforgettable day which you can relive all over again.
Celebrity Edge
OCEANCRUISINGSet sail across the ocean on board cruise liners primed for relaxation and stimulation in equal measure. These enthralling ships offer a wealth of activities and facilities, from kids’ clubs and waterparks to keep them occupied, to unwinding pampering spas and private poolside cabanas.
Just returned from a fantastic cruise on board P&O Cruises’ ship Azura. The friendly staff, fabulous food and excellent facilities for children have made this the most relaxing holiday we have had in years!
We used the freedom dining option which meant we could eat on our own as a family or with others if we wished.
The children were well catered for in their respective clubs by the Reef Rangers and the activities provided on the ship were numerous and bound to suit most people.
In the evening, again there was a good selection of entertainment to choose from. There were a few really fantastic performances - of a much higher standard than we expected.

Long gone are the days when cruises appealed almost exclusively to adults and grandparents, with many cruise lines and luxury cruise specialists having evolved their fleet to include a wide range of family and child-friendly amenities to keep them entertained on board.
Cruise lines including Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, and Carnival represent some of the best choices for families looking for destination itineraries and fun cruise programmes with the right balance of age-specific activities and appeal for older kids and teens to make the most of their journey.
What can you expect as a family taking kids on a cruise? Dedicated kids’ clubs, shore excursions appropriate for younger members of the group, thrilling water parks, sports, and their favourite films on movie night, helping ensure kids want to come back for more after their action-packed cruise adventure.
Explore the world together Children of all ages revel in the chance to explore the intriguing and the unknown, particularly when adventure and exploration are the primary ingredients during a cruise excursion.
Rekindle fond memories back home when viewing the journey through their eyes, as they gaze longingly at a Caribbean shoreline, explore private islands to build sandcastles, and take part in skygazing delights such as Disney Cruises’ captivating fireworks shows each night on board. Alongside excitedly exploring some of the finest islands and city destinations in the world, a culinary journey on-board can be equally awe-inspiring. Staff on board create a family-friendly atmosphere as they oversee speciality restaurants with kids menus, while cabin service available 24/7 on many cruise liners ensures no child goes hungry as they tuck into midnight snacks while watching a movie.
Action packed activities on-boardThere are plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy on board many of today’s ships, with entertainment programmes such as Royal Caribbean’s offering of rock wall climbs, and surfing practice on the state-of-the-art FlowRider surf simulator, after which they can enjoy hamburgers and milkshakes within the authentic American diner experience at Johnny Rockets. Carnival’s ships each contain a spectacular WaterWorks water park for water babies to glide through rides and slides at varying heights and speeds, while kids preferring land based pursuits can take part in mini-golf, basketball, fully-equipped video arcades and much more besides.
Creative and theatricalTime spent on board the ship doesn’t need to be adrenaline rushed, with plenty of room for downtime and educational activities including kids’ clubs offering arts and craft sessions, movie nights, playrooms and book readings. Learning based excursions once at your destination and theatre based performances including Disney Cruise Line’s re-enactment of scenes from their favourite movies combine to create a cruise environment primed for the best in relaxation and insightful experiences.
Cruising for kids
RIVER& NICHECRUISINGSpectacular scenery, bustling city streets, and iconic monuments ensure a river or niche cruise floating through some of the world’s most renowned waterways is a great way to uncover a city. Elegant rooms with a view combine with memorable adventures through diverse regions as far-reaching as Athens and the Amazon rainforest!
Having been on a number of river cruises, we had thought this would be rather ordinary. In fact, this was one of the best.
There was so much of interest to see in this part of Northern France and it was one of the most enjoyable of cruises. Our Viking ship was the familiar design of other Viking river longships and all the staff on board were magnificent throughout the cruise. Food was always well prepared and presented and of a consistently high standard. Another successful well-planned cruise by Viking.

With a near infinite amount of cruise destinations to choose from throughout the year, it’s hard to believe that there are still corners of the world left largely unexplored when navigating the seas.
Cruise lines and luxury cruise specialists are increasingly adding some of these little-known cruise destinations to their expanding itinerary lists, meaning there is no better time to pick a cruise offering equally outstanding untouched wonders and memorable experiences when compared to more famous ports of call.
There is something endlessly exciting about visiting destinations outside of the obvious choices, allowing discovery of unique cultures and waterways welcomingly unventured by most fellow travellers. Unwind on pristine beaches, enjoy fine cuisine and nightlife in vibrant city destinations and meander through picturesque canals. Thrillingly diverse geological landscapes await on your next cruise journey… Cruising the Panama Canal Comprising a 48-mile man-made feat of engineering linking the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean as a gateway to either Central or South America, the Panama Canal shipping route is steeped in historical intrigue primed for excitable discovery.Stop off at the alluringly contrasting Panama City, famed for its vibrant nightlife spanning casinos, bars and restaurants, while nature enthusiasts can explore the rainforests and waterways circulating the city. This memorable canal experience can be taken in aboard a range of luxury cruise ships, with itineraries also visiting some of the finest east and west destinations in the Americas.
The AzoresWhile many yachts and cruise liners sail near the autonomous Portuguese islands of The Azores on their way across the Atlantic, it is rare for them to stop and explore the region.
The prevalence of blissful bays, peaceful anchorages and protected harbours sees the Azores as an untouched cruising destination awaiting discovery, and with its diverse landscape spanning everything from mountains and cliffs, to picturesque fishing villages and expansive green fields, it may not remain a well-kept secret for much longer. Iceland CruisesThe opportunity to see glaciers and volcanoes before swimming in a hot spring is an indication of how varied and inviting Iceland is as a cruise destination. The near-prehistoric magnificence of the nation ensures its landscape is ripe for exploration, while the combination of culture, creativity and journeying through Icelandic Viking history amid the colourful buildings and charming ambience of capital Reykjavík makes Iceland a discerning choice when seeking a captivating cruise destination with a difference.

I had been to New York many years ago, but I was really looking forward visiting again with my husband, Colin, for a few days prior to embarking on our Transatlantic Queen Mary 2 voyage.
We had only a few nights and one whole day to cram as much in as we could, which is why we booked our accommodation in Times Square. Following on from our few days in New York we embarked seamlessly on board the ship.
As we were on the flagship Cunard ship you could see that everything was catered for, down to the minute detail, including cheery staff looking magnificent in their flamboyant red outfits with white gloves. If you are someone who loves to be pampered and to feel extra special, this is the cruise for you.
I have to say, I am a certainly a cruiser now after sampling this amazing experience, on this superb and stylish lady of the seas, Cunard’s QM2.

An undeniable cruise adventure of a lifetime can be found as you sail to some of the most photogenic landmarks in the world, where you can find Rio de Janeiro’s carnival atmosphere overlooked by the magnificent Christ the Redeemer statue, and enjoy a stop off at Peru’s UNESCO-listed Machu Picchu site as you traverse the ‘Lost City of the Incas’.
The unique blend of cultures harboured in the colourful Latin cities and rainforest filled regions of the continent are matched by a diverse array of activities appealing to every type of cruiser. Whether you take a short cruise, a cruise-and-stay trip, or a cruise-around-the-horn, rest assured you will experience a stunning trip spanning spectacular shore excursions, vibrant cities, tropical canopies, and jaw-dropping Inca ruins as part of an unforgettable adventure.
AlaskaCruise a veritable ice kingdom and winter wonderland aboard cruise liners often taking in the grunge-music enthused, Space Needle featuring spectacle of Seattle.
Witness a landscape far removed from the rest of the world, comprising otherworldly snow-capped lake vistas as you cruise through glaciers and sprawling tundra home to a diverse array of wildlife, including the famous grizzly bear as it fishes in crystal clear mountain streams, and humpback whales migrating south for the winter. Cruising this gloriously stripped-back wilderness will often entail a visit to Hubbard Glacier as the largest tidewater glacier in Alaska, providing you with picture perfect views of some of the most spectacular and unspoiled natural scenes in the region, while other stops on the itinerary including delving into the rich gold-mining heritage at Klondike, alongside trips to the serene settings of Anchorage and Juneau.
AntarcticaA decidedly undiscovered continent as the last region in the world refreshingly untouched by man. An increasing amount of Antarctic expedition cruises offer you a journey of a lifetime through the unmatched beauty and power seen in towering glaciers, atop of which can be found elephant seals and rookeries of penguins calling them home.
There is also a large amount of whale species to spot from your cruise ship deck, including notable Humpback, Sperm and Orca, the latter of which weighs in as the largest of all carnivores on the planet, and will often linger near pack-ice during hunts for the unsuspecting aforementioned animals.
Witness an inviting white-hued wilderness aboard robust and well-appointed cruise ships offering the best in comfort, safety and style, where you can choose varying categories of cruise type ranging from research based expeditions to a focus on luxury sailings, each providing unique travel experiences and amenities.
