In that time, Ellen Day Hale and Philip Leslie Hale gained prominence as American Impressionist artists, Edward Everett Hale Jr. became a writer and professor of literature,Herbert became a successful architect, and Robert Beverly Hale became a writer and poet. Joan Youngken came to know the Hale family through years of research and serving as consultant on the restoration, furnishing, and interpretation of the Hale summer house, now a property of the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society. Joan will share her extensive knowledge of this creative family in a slideshow and lecture .
