B. SURE-TITE Newel Fasteners are one of the most secure methods of mounting newel posts to finished floors. It uses floor joists for support, needs additional framing and installs in as little as 10 minutes. (comes complete with instructions) C. A simple method with open tread is to utilize our unique newel attaching hard- ware (comes complete with instructions). Attaching hardware can be used where newels are free standing or attached against stairs. D. Newel posts can also be notched and secured to bottom riser or foot of half wall. Half newel posts or rosettes should be used against a wall. D. Rail bolt fasteners are best used to fasten handrails flush to newel post.
