A CHANCE OF A LIFETIME……… On Wednesday 13th February our Year 5 and 6 pupils had the privilege of meeting Mindu Hornick, a survivor from
Auschwitz concentration camp, who retold her experiences as a child in the camp to her current day as a survivor
spreading her story so that nothing like this ever happens again.
Please see below the letter Mindu sent to the school following her visit:

Well Done “Shout Outs”
We know that our children take part in a variety of activities
and sports outside of school. Many of them play for teams
and have won various awards and certificates as part of developing their skills.
We would like to celebrate these achievements by giving the children a “Shout
Out” on our school internal TV screens.
We now have two screens in school that share information with the children
and visitors in school. One is in the entrance area and the other is on the back
playground entrance. We would like to share the achievements of our children
with everyone so that they can see what talented children we have here at Ry-
ders Hayes. The screens are monitored on an internal system only. The infor-
mation will only be shared on Ryders Hayes’ screens and not shared publicly.
If your child has been recognised in their activity, such as winning a medal; pass-
ing a swimming badge; passing a musical qualification or taking part in a perfor-
mance, then we want to hear from you. A photograph of your child holding the
certificate/award and some detail about what your child has achieved can be
sent to the post-box email address for school. We will then use the information
to share on our screens and share your child’s achievements with the rest of the
school community.
We look forward to hearing about our talented children and sharing their
accomplishments in school.
Please send all information to [email protected]

Science Showcase
This week we held our very own Science Showcase. This is where children have created their own showcase piece to
show their
interpretation of a “journey”.
We are so proud of every single child who entered the
competition and the winners will be announced in Monday assembly. Everyone who has taken part in the competition
will receive a certificate and a small prize.
Engineering Finals
Year 5 pupils: Amelia , Evie , Robyn and Si-
enna went to Wolverhampton University -
the Telford Innovation Campus - to take
part in an Engineering Finals competition. The girls had to
design and create their own plane from foam board and
fly their plane to see whose went the furthest. They came
7th out of 12 school participating - well done girls - fly
high!
Steve the ‘Lollipop Man’
Steve who is the Lollipop Man on Norton Road has asked us to tell you that he is having an
operation next week . This means he will not be manning the crossing from Tuesday on-
wards.
We wish him well for a speedy recovery.
