A paradigm shift is taking place in Disaster Management from Relief and Rehabilitation to Preparedness and Disaster Risk Reduction. Emergency preparedness has traditionally focused on stockpiling relief goods and providing urgent services to meet the public's basic needs. In most countries political commitment and financial and human resources are concentrated overwhelmingly on these short-term emergency contingencies. While building up capacities for humanitarian response continues to be a priority for all countries, it is now widely believed that more should be done to reduce the social, economic and human consequences of these emergencies. This translates into a need for placing much greater attention on the implementation of proactive strategies and a call for a more comprehensive approach to building national capacities in emergency preparedness and response as well as in risk reduction, focusing on those communities most at risk. The challenge is to put in place systematic capacities such as legislation, plans, coordination mechanisms and procedures, institutional capacities and budgets, skilled personnel, information, and public awareness and participation that can measurably reduce future risks and losses.

Keeping in view above-mentioned state of Disaster Management Preparedness, IDC Foundation is organizing its 30th National Conference, on Disaster Management Preparedness which aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and disaster management expert to exchange and share their experiences and research covering all aspects of disaster management. It will also provide the premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, professionals and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, concerns and practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the field of disaster management.

BACKGROUND

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE

MISSION

The core mission of the Conference is to share and reflect on knowledge, experiences and good practices on different aspects of disaster risk management, among various stakeholders, across multiple sectors and disciplines within and outsides governments, and at all levels, for building disaster resilient future .

With this overarching mission, the Conference has been designed to provide a platform for interaction among researchers, Policy makers and professionals in all relevant sectors.1. Understanding risks and various types of natural and man made disasters2. Discussing preparedness of various agencies to respond to emergency situations3 Disaster risk reduction4 Early warning for disaster preparedness5 Capacity building through education, research, training and awareness.6 Public health emergencies & mass casualty management7 Role of armed forces, NDRF, police & civil defence forces.8 Social and sociological aspects of disasters

SUB-THEMES

!·We welcome interdisciplinary approaches and proposals presented by emergency/ disaster professionals, educators, scholars, researchers, governmental and NGO representatives, humanitarian organizations, scientists, multilateral organizations, architects, engineers, landscape architects and crisis mappers, planners (regional/ city/ urban/community/ neighborhood/ economic/ social) and allied professionals, representatives of funding agencies, private sector and not-for-profit agencies, and public policymakers.

Selected papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in the journal of advanced research in alternative energy, environment and ecology.

NOTE: 1.Cite abstract title, authors name and current affiliation details2.The text should be typed in times new roman font (size 12) and single spaced. 3.Full paper in soft form (MS Word file) is required to be submitted after notification of acceptance

of abstract.4.Send abstracts and full length papers by e-mail to convener of organizing committee at 5.Abstracts should be submitted for oral or poster presentation.6. A brief resume of author should accompany the abstract
