GATHERING. . .
The Prelude
The Welcome and Announcements
The Introit
The Call To Worship (from Psalm 127)
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest.
We shall put our trust in the Lord who gives rest to God’s beloved.
The Prayer of Adoration
We praise You, God of all being! You give food to the hungry, set prisoners
free, open the eyes of the blind, and lift the spirits of those bowed down.
Because You are righteous, You sent Christ to redeem the lost and the
wayward. We come into Your presence enlivened by Your Holy Spirit and full
of new hope to give You the honor due Your glorious name. All thanks and
praise be to You, O God, our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.
*The Hymn 412 “Eternal God, Whose Power Upholds”
*The Prayer of Confession
Compassionate God, we need the renewal of Your forgiving grace. We fail to
live simply in dependence upon You. We try to provide for ourselves, as if
there were blessings apart from You. We clutch our possessions in anxiety, as
if they, not You, give us value. We seek human recognition and honor rather
than humbling ourselves to serve Your glory. Though you give us all we need,
we resist giving to others. Forgive and free us, O God, from our sin and the
selfishness that ensnares us. . . .(time for silent confession). .
*The Assurance of Pardon
Christ has been offered once to bear the sins of many…
And will appear a second time, not to deal with sin
but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Christ.
Know that salvation is in Christ!
Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel!
We say with penitence, gratitude and joy, in
Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Alleluia! Amen.
*The Gloria Patri p. 579 in the Hymnal
*The Peace and Greeting
The peace of Christ be with you all. And also with you! (Please exchange this ancient greeting with worshippers seated near you. Please stand to greet one another in the name of Christ.)

rescue us from the pit of our own selfishness. We come before You, seeking to
be faithful to Christ’s call to stewardship. Our hearts are filled with gratitude
for all who have given so much more before us. Accept what we offer as signs
of our yearning to be better caretakers of Your creation. In Jesus’ name we
pray. Amen.

We are delighted to have visitors worship with us!
To aid you in our liturgy, we want to acquaint you with
our following custom: In the Lord’s Prayer, we use the
words, “Forgive us our debts… our debtors.” We encour-
age you to stand for singing if you are able as the organ
sounds the first note of introduction. When appropriate to
the hymn, the organist and choir will lead the congrega-
tion in singing, “Amen.”
Assistive listening devices (amplified earphones and
telecoilneckloops), large print bulletins and hymnals
are available from the ushers.
Child Care is provided in the Education Building for in-
fants through Kindergarten.
All worshippers are encouraged to sign the Attendance/
Friendship pad, greet your friends, and welcome visitors.
The flowers today are given by Roberta and Karl Karch in
honor of their grandson, Kaison Hui Han, born September
