The buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet began slowly, but as digital payments became easier, faster and more secure the trend evolved quickly. This year, eCommerce is expected to account for nearly $2 trillion in sales and is growing at 4X the rate of traditional commerce. Let's take

Visa Checkout launches and streamlinesonline purchasing by making an online

transaction as quick and simple as the swipeof a card. Participating retailers include NeimanMarcus, Pizza Hut, United Airlines, Ticketmaster,

and Wine Enthusiast.

The majority (55.6%) of all retail sales are digitally influenced.16

In Q1 2014, 47% of total eCommerce spending in the U.S. involved theuse of a Visa product.15

Mobile commerce is expected to reach $1 trillion.20

eCommerce sales are expected to increase by 14.2% and reach $2 trillion.18

mCommerce is projected to grow 32% year-over-year, and account for 22% of yearly eCommerce sales.19
