Cultural Demands•Society demands total equality

for all•On the surface, this sounds good, “fair”

•However, our culture blurs lines God has drawn that deal with roles to be played by each respective gender


Cultural Demands•Some admissions we make…

Obviously, things evolve culturally over time•Women are doing things not being done even 100 years ago

•Yet, we still adhere to a body of teaching that hasn’t “evolved” in 2,000 years cp. Col 3:17



“Modern advocates” see no difference between “equal rights” & “equal roles”•Not trying to find “politically correct” answers

•We want “Biblically correct” information from the One who made us Gen 1:26-27



The Feminist Movement has been largely successful in efforts re: “The Glass Ceiling”•Women’s civil rights are being denied•Women’s full potential is being thwarted in a “male-dominated society”

Cultural Demands•What our culture doesn’t

understand is that Jesus has done more for women than the Feminist Movement ever could cp. Gal 3:26-28 1 Pet 3:7


Biblical Restraints•Equal rights as created humans?•Equal roles despite gender?•Anyone who searches the Bible

to find answers to this question must be willing to be satisfied with what is revealed


Biblical Restraints –•Lonely man needed companionship•Suitable, “meet” help not found in

animals•God provided woman who can

understand, complement man…make him “whole”

Satan, she was to be punished–Note: all involved were punished–Note: punishments fit each one’s nature

•Not so…if so, the woman would have been equal (not under subjection) before sin

are “fit” for “sound” (healthy) doctrine•Something for every “age group”

•What is taught that is “fit” for woman is her role as wife, mother, homemaker

•Cannot find a passage that teaches it is

•However, that is not the question that should be asked

outside the home?”

would necessitate a woman taking on a job outside her home (death of husband, divorce, financial hardship on the family)

outside of home (for any reason), she has 2 full-time jobs

•She must never abandon her God-given role to pursue her “career” & break through the “glass ceiling” as feminism encourages

Tim 5:11-15•Paul instructs young widows to remarry, bear children (if possible and desired), and to guide the house
