(Please do not change color of type, font or include any special formatting when completing this form)
If this book is part of a book series, please list the book series:
Advances in Mathematics and Engineering
Series Editor: Mangey Ram __________________________________________________________________
CRC Press is committed to publishing, up-to-date, state of the art, technical /reference engineering publications.
With this in mind, CRC Press is always looking for potential authors who feel they can make a difference to the literature in their areas of expertise. If you have published technical papers, conducted professional seminars,
solved important real-world technical problems, or are currently teaching at a university and have gathered enough research information that could develop into a course textbook, you could be an excellent candidate for
authorship.
Developing a book proposal is easy. Simply answer the following questions as completely as you can:
1
Cindy Renee Carelli – Executive EditorProposal Form 2019
INFORMATION ON PROPOSED BOOK(Please keep in mind when completing this form that I need as much detailed information as possible. I will be your voice once I go before my
Editorial Board and pitch your proposal. If I do not have complete information, that could result in your proposal not being approved for publication).
Tentative book title and subtitle (if any):
Are you preparing a Disk Book or a Camera-Ready Book? (please place a next to the answer below)
Disk Book: ________Disk book is done in MS Word – the Author will double-space the manuscript and unembed the figures from the text and save each figure separately in a separate folder. The publisher will format the pages.
Camera-Ready Book: ________Camera-Ready book is done in Latex – the Author will format their own pages and then incorporate the publisher’s changes after a proofread for final printer-ready pages.
Is this book Authored or Edited? (Please place a next to the answer below) (Authored – no contributors involved / Edited – chapters are written by contributors)

SUBJECT MATTER
Although not necessary, if 2 to 3 sample chapters are available, please send them with this form.
Definition of topic: (Please include an example of how this process is used in everyday life)
Please write a short description of your book, which could be modified, for promotional purposes.
Please outline your reasons for proposing a new book in this area:
Please include one or two “everyday examples” of how this is used in our society today.
Please list up to eight major features of your book, which make it unique:(please make sure that the features have to do with the material included in the book and not who is writing the book)

What is the key benefit for potential buyers?
Please give a one-line handle that describes your book and could be used for promotional purposes:
Please attach proposed table of contents, including section and sub-section headings:Please note that with the direction today’s technology is moving, in regards to e-books, all chapters should begin with a chapter abstract (about 150 words). These abstracts, increasingly required by e-book vendors, although they won’t be published in the book and should not be listed in the table of contents, they will become part of the book’s metadata and will allow users, particularly library patrons, to search your book’s content more thoroughly. Please keep in mind that providing good metadata substantially increases the visibility of your book. All chapter abstracts should be put in a separate folder marked “Abstracts”, when your manuscript is submitted.
Please attach proposed preface:
MANUSCRIPT INFORMATIONReminders: Permissions - It is the responsibility of the author to go after, pay for, and secure permission to reuse any already published material that may be included in their book. Although we strongly encourage authors to use their own original unpublished material, we do understand at times, borrowed material might be needed. So to prevent any delays from the manuscript going into production, it is extremely important that you as the author take care of any permissions if needed, before the manuscript is delivered to us.
Index - The index is to be prepared and submitted by the author. A guide for compiling an index will be provided. To help avoid any unnecessary or possible delays with the production schedule of your book, it is advised that you begin to develop your index as soon as you deliver your completed manuscript. Then once you receive the page proofs, you can then use the page numbers to list in the index you created.
In the event that the author cannot create or supply an index, the publisher will arrange to have the index created and the costs will be charged against the author’s royalties. The cost is estimated to be about $4.00 per printed page, but it could be more.
Please note that the index will need to be submitted to the vendor once corrected proofs have been returned by the author. It is not to be submitted with the manuscript
Approximately how many manuscript (typewritten, double-spaced) pages, would you expect your manuscript to contain?
What date do you expect to deliver your complete and final manuscript to us?

(please break the above number of case studies down to how many will be domestic and how many will be international below) Domestic Case Studies:__________ International Case Studies:_______
Color figures, or any color inside of a book adds extra production cost to the book. We encourage you to go with b/w (black & white) figures/photos. Please confirm that your figures/photos can be done in b/w:
Please know that sending in color figures, thinking that we can easily remove the color, is not always a cost-free function we can do. It can cost us to have to remove color from a figure. It also can harm the quality of the figure.
With that in mind, please make sure all figures are sent in as b/w.
Also, to keep our production costs down, we encourage our authors to create their own Index for the book. An easy step-by-step guide will be sent to you.
What form of measurements do you use in your book? (Please place a next to the answer).

• Carefully follow the manual, “Taylor & Francis Group: Author’s Guide to Publishing,” for style and typing instructions, e.g., double-spaced manuscript pages.
• When submitting your manuscript, please provide all permission verification forms, permission letters, and contributor agreements.
• Complete front matter should be submitted with your manuscript: preface, biographies, table of contents, and list of contributors. Please be sure all information for project participants is current.
• Please provide your manuscript electronically with a hard copy printed from the submitted disks. You may provide CDs, DVDs, or USB flash drives; you may also upload files to our ftp site (your coordinator will provide a link).
• Following are the acceptable software applications for text, tables, and equations. Please use a software version created within two years of the submission of your manuscript.
Mac PC
Microsoft Word Microsoft Word (only original unformatted data will be used)Excel ExcelMathType MathType (you must use CRC preferences and font list)
LaTEX
• Each CD/DV/USB should be labeled with the author name, book title, chapter numbers, software used (including version number), and the date of creation. Please print the hard copy from these disks at 100%.
• Please do not try to make the manuscript look as if it were the final book. For example, chapter titles and subheads typed in full capitals will have to be retyped by the compositor. It should contain no layout formatting such as styles, borders, shading, etc. There will be charges incurred for retyping your manuscript if your electronic files are not acceptable.
• Please do not embed into the text any art objects (such as figures) from other applications.
• Please adhere to a two-digit numbering system for numbering figures, tables, and equations (chapter number+figure number, e.g., Figure 5.1).
• Your art should be provided in one of the following acceptable formats:1. Original electronic line-art files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand. Original electronic art files containing grayscales or photographs should be created in Adobe PhotoShop (please note that type must not be created in PhotoShop). All art files should be placed in separate folders, clearly labeled, and saved in one of the following formats, listed in the order of acceptability:Adobe Illustrator (.ai) PDF (.pdf) set to the highest level of resolutionEPS (.eps) GIF (.gif)JPEG (.jpg) TIFF (.tif)2. Structures may be created in ChemDraw and should be supplied as .cdx and .eps or .pdf.3. Screen captures are dependent on the resolution of the monitor (which is usually 96 dpi)and are best saved as .jpg or .gif.
Unacceptable art includes scanned printed figures, halftones, printed grayscales, photocopies, faxes, hand-drawn figures, and any printed material.
