APRIL 9, 2015 THE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER OF LA CASA DE CRISTO LUTHERAN CHURCH
A SPECIAL OCCASION Pastor Matt Knopf’s installation will
take place at all services during the
weekend of April 11-12. Plan to be with
us for this important event in
the life of La Casa de
Cristo.
MEN’S BREAKFAST Sat., April 25, 7:30 am, hear Pastor
Matt Knopf’s fascinating presentation on
Biblical archaeology with a special
message for men:
“Rebellious Sons
and Mighty Kings:
Bethsaida and The
Archaeology of a
Father/Son Rela-
tionship.” He’ll
talk specifically
about his
experience with
archaeological
excavations of
Bethsaida, Israel, a fishing town on the
Sea of Galilee that was home to some of
the disciples and the location of some of
Jesus’ miracles. Pastor Matt also will
include a powerful message exploring
King David and Absalom’s relations with
this Iron Age city through a fun twist on
the archaeology of father/son relation-
ships. Sign up online or at the Men’s
Ministry table so you won’t miss this
unique presentation!
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION Sunday, May 3
1:30 to 6:00 pm (includes dinner)
Whether you have been worshiping with
us for months, or you recently worshiped
with us for
the first
time, this
afternoon
is planned
with YOU
in mind!
Come learn more about the Lutheran
faith and La Casa de Cristo. While it is
necessary for those who plan to join the
church to attend this meeting, attendance
does not obligate a person to join.
Because of the full orientation agenda,
we ask that you stay for the entire event.
Dinner will be served and childcare is
available upon request for infants through
6th grade. RSVP to Kelly McKennon at
let her know if you need childcare.
FAITH BUILDERS It’s time to register your 3-yr.-olds
through current 5th-graders for the 2015-
2016 Faith Builders year. Staff will be
on the patio near the fountain on Sun.,
April 12, to assist with registration. On
the following Sundays, come by the
Children’s Ministry office to register.
Remember, you must register your
children every year.
NEW CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR We are excited to welcome Staci
Ulibarri as the new Children’s Ministry
Director at La Casa, beginning June 1.
After growing up at
La Casa, Staci
returns to us with a
degree in elementary
education and a
master’s in teaching
and teacher education
from the University
of Arizona. She has
taught for six years in
Sahuarita, Ariz., and
in addition to classroom experience, has
had the role of principal designee and
acting principal. Staci has worked with
administration and the district on
committees developing curriculum,
instructional coaching, and professional
development. She also serves on the
worship team of her current church,
Common Ground, and has coordinated
worship schedules and volunteers. Staci
looks forward to continuing ministry and
adding new opportunities for the ministry
of children at La Casa, and we are very
excited to have her on board!
IMPACT AFRICA What may seem like a small act can make
an impact for the children of Southern
Africa. Every month at
La Casa, the non-profit
Orchard: Africa holds an
event called Impact Africa.
Volunteers gather to make
simple beaded bracelets for
children who complete an HIV/AIDS
prevention program. Children receive the
handmade bracelet with a handwritten
note of encouragement. Plan now to join
others on Tues., April 21, at 7:30 pm,
Room 205/206. By giving just an hour of
your time, you can make a real impact on
the other side of the world!
Join us in the morning, at our regular
worship times, to celebrate 40 years of
ministry at La Casa! Then, from 4-7
pm, you won’t want to miss the party as
we celebrate together on our beautiful
campus. Enjoy live music by La Casa’s
own Ross Bridgeman & The Bridgemen,
games and fun for all ages, and a wide
variety of food trucks, offering every-
thing from kettle corn to gourmet
burgers to ramen! Find details on the
home page of our website. Be there for
a great time of fellowship and
community as the next 40 years of
ministry at La Casa begins!

Copp finished 2nd with 294. Each will
receive a gift card for their efforts!
Thank you to all who supported this
program. Jesus said, “Let the little
children come unto me.” Your support
will help make that happen in bigger and
better ways—thank you!

Our 8th Annual Community Day of
Service is just 9 days away, Sat., April
18, with a goal of over 300 volunteers
serving. Serve as an individual, a group
of friends, or a family. We’ll be packing

delivering food to the homeless, organiz-
ing donated items, light landscaping,
cleaning, and coordinating a spring
carnival for the elderly. Breakfast is
provided at church for volunteers that
morning; projects are planned to end
around noon.
Get details on all the projects and sign up
on Sunday in the courtyard or on our
website under Resources/Outreach.
