MASS INTENTIONS DISCIPLESHIP: Disciples are called to give themselves completely over to

Christ. Today the disciples move to another stage of learning as they journey to

Jerusalem. The way of discipleship involves the same process for all believers—

detachment, self-denial, taking up the cross. Yet the mystery remains. Why must

Jesus suffer and die? Will you go away like Jesus to pray in solitude and answer

his question, “Who do you say that I am?”

Happy

Father's

Day! Today we of-

fer thanks and

praises to God

for the unique

love of our fathers. On this special day, we

entrust the many fathers among us to the

Lord’s goodness and mercy, asking the

Lord that He give them a heart for their

spouses, and in this way to give to his chil-

dren. To be a father is a great honor and

privilege and at the same time a big re-

sponsibility. Fathers are called to be a good

example for their children and to do the

best they can for their children. On Febru-

ary 4, 2015, in his general audience, Pope

Francis spoke about the role of the father

to his children. “to be a good father, in the

first place, is to be present in the family,

sharing the joys and sorrows with his wife,

accompanying one’s children as they

grow.” He also stated that a good father

teaches his children by giving a daily ex-

ample of love and understanding. He ex-

pressed his hope that all fathers would be

like Saint Joseph and that they would

strive “to protect their children and to

teach them wisdom, faith and integrity.”

For that reason, dear children, listen al-

ways to your father. In Proverbs God gives

us the best advice “Hear, O children, a fa-

ther’s instruction, be attentive, that you

may gain understanding! Yes, excellent

advice I give you; my teaching do not for-

sake. When I was my father’s child, tender,

the darling of my mother, He taught me

and said to me: “Let your heart hold fast

my words: keep my commands, and live!”.

Prov. 4.1-4

Have a blessed fathers day

Fr. Josue Vargas

Fathers’ Day Prayer

“St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste

husband of Mary, you passed your life in

loving fulfillment of duty. You supported

the holy family of Nazareth with the work

of your hands. Kindly protect those who

trustingly come to you. You know their

aspirations, their hardships, their hopes.

They look to you because they know

you will understand and protect them. You

too knew trial, labor and weariness. But

amid the worries of materi-

al life your soul was full of deep peace and

sang out in true joy through intimacy with

God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary,

his tender Mother. Assure those you pro-

tect that they do not labor alone. Teach

them to find Jesus near them

and to watch over him faithfully

as you have done”.

Pope John XXIII

Baptism Previous membership in the parish and regular attendance at Sunday

(Saturday vigil at 5pm included) Mass will be expected from anyone

seeking to baptize a child. Membership includes not only attendance

at mass regularly, but the use of offertory envelopes. If you are new

to the parish you will be expected to first establish your relationship

with our parish. It is time for us at St. Jude’s to expect the same

level of commitment that is given by those who seem to always car-

ry the responsibilities of our parish community. The gifts of the

Church depend on both rights and obligations and personal relation-

ship with one’s parish and fair share of the

responsibilities is to be expected.

First Communion Photos are now available at the parish office

during regular office hours, Monday

through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (closed

12pm –1:00pm ). Please come and pick

up your child’s First Communion photo.

There is no charge for the

“Individual” photograph. Orders however will be taken if anyone is interested in purchasing a group photo. We

require $10.00 (cash only) when placing any group photo orders.

Pray for Voca-

tions

“If anyone wants to become

my follower, let him deny

himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Ontario Planning to be

a Catholic School Teacher?

It is critical for you to know that to be

hired to teach in any Catholic School

Board in Ontario as part of your applica-

tion for employment there must be a letter

of reference from your pastor. If you are

planning to apply to teach in a Catholic

School, it is highly recommended to con-

tact the pastor a year in advance, especially

in light of the fact that all universities

make this matter known to every student at

the beginning of the year. Please plan to

have a conversation with your pastor early

in the process (not the week before you are

submitting your application) and you will

avoid disappointment and stress at the time

when applications are to be submitted. The

following are required at St. Jude’s:

Be (yourself, not your parents or grand

parents) a registered member of the parish

using offertory envelopes (at least 1 year

before the application).

Be in the parish for participation in Sun-

day/Saturday mass for a minimum of 12

months prior to approaching the pastor.

Be involved in some way with your parish.

Make your request 3 months in advance.

Applicant must be the one making the re-

quests. No request will be accepted by a

relative or a parent.

The pastor has to be able to recommend

you and that is only possible

if he knows you at

the basic level of

regular mass attend-

ance. Personal knowledge

of the candidate’s faith

practice is what the pastor needs to recom-

mend (not your parents, grand parents, but

yourself as this is a personal recommenda-

tion not a family one.

Do you wish to become

a Catholic? Are you:

Non-baptized and have a desire to learn

more about the Catholic faith with the

intention of converting?

Baptized as a Christian in a different

denomination (religion) and seek full

reception (membership) in the Roman

Catholic Church?

Baptized in the Catholic faith but never

received faith instructions as a child,

made first communion and received

Confirmation?

Questions for Reflection:

Do you forgive other people if they “repent”

or do you demand more?

Are there people you have offended and

from whom you need to ask forgiveness?

Are there countries today that pierce indi-

viduals or groups of people?
