In most major countries, ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard for which most labs must hold accreditation in order to be deemed technically competent. ISO/IEC 17025 specifies the general requirements for the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It covers testing and calibration performed using standard meth- ods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods. It is applicable to all organizations performing tests and/or calibrations. These include, for example, first-, second- and third-party laboratories, and laboratories where testing and/or calibration forms part of inspection and product certification. ISO/IEC 17025 is for use by laboratories in developing their management system for quality, administra- tive and technical operations. Laboratory customers, regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies may also use it in confirming or recognizing the competence of laboratories. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is not intended to be used as the basis for certification of laboratories. Compliance with regulatory and safety requirements on the operation of laboratories is not covered by ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The course aims to : i. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chua Lee Suan has com-pleted her PhD in 2005 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is a registered chemist, university lecturer and Quality Manager for SAMM ISO/IEC 17025 Biofertilizer Laboratory (SAMM N0: 433). Her expertise in natural products, particularly for metabolite profiling of herbs and honey and has published more than 50 interna-tional research articles and serving as editor for repute journals such as Journal of Ginseng Research and European Journal of Me-dicinal Plants.

Siti Hajar bte Mat Sarip is a Research Officer for the past 10 years in Institute Bioproduct Development (IBD) under Analytical & Biovalidation unit and previously she has been working in Soil, Water & Biofertil-izer Laboratory unit and in Biore-sources unit. She also appointed as a Deputy Quality Man-ager and Technical Manager in IBD Laboratory Services to main-tained accredited labora-tory as ISO 17025 requirements and now she appointed as Head of Analytical & Biovalidation unit since 2016. She has completed MSc. In Bioprocess Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia related to delivery system for pesticide ingredients. His exper-tise is related to ISO/IEC 17025 system and analytical labora-tory.

Siti Zulaiha is a Research Officer with Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), UTM. Prior to joining the IBD in 2009, she was a tutor in Cher-mai Matriculation College (1999 - 2000), Micro-biologist cum Food Technologist in Spectrum Laboratories was a tutor in Chermai Matricula-tion College (1999 - 2000), Microbiologist cum Food Technologist in Spectrum Laboratories (M) Sdn Bhd (2003 to 2005) and held technical lead-ership and quality positions with Allied Chemists Laboratory as Senior Microbiologist (2005-2009).Siti Zulaiha is a graduate of Universiti Putra Malaysia, where she obtained a B.S. in Food Science in 1999 and a MSc. in Microbiology (Food Safety) in 2006. Throughout the various positions she held at IBD the Manager for Biofer-tilizer and Biocontrol SBU, Approved Signatory for Microbiology testing for ISO/IEC 17025, Mem-bers of Malaysian Society of Microbiology and Secretary for UTM Institute of Biosafety (IBC). Her expertise is in the ligninolytic enzymes from fungi, soil and food microbiology.
