The 9th Annual British Legends Weekend is now behind us and the CCBCC would like to thank everyone that attended the events throughout the weekend. While we had to deal with a little wet weather again this year it was nothing like the hurricane we had to deal with last year. Things got underway with the Friday night meet-and-greet, which was once again masterfully managed by Rick and Gini Johnson. Great food, drink and company for all. Although Saturday brought us some rain, some hearty LBC drivers still took on the Saturday road trip and canal cruise. Saturday night was another social at the Green Harbor. Sunday started off with an early bite to eat at Leo’s in Buzzard’s Bay for those of that would be setting up the car show. This was our second year at our new location at the Buzzard’s Bay Train Bridge Park. While we had a tent off to the side of the field that could have accepted up to 80 cars we decided to keep to show outdoors and were rewarded with sunshine by midday. We have already started on our planning for the 10th Annual British Legends Weekend and hope to see you there! Jerry Gougen AwardThose of us who knew Jerry, knew that he had a tremendous passion for the MG's - most clearly demonstrated by his driving, racing, and establishing Abingdon Spares, a supplier of MG T-series parts!   I've come to realize that the current theme for the BLW of "*Drive the Car*, Talk the Car, Show the car, Love the Car" quite nicely sums up the criteria for selecting who this award goes to.  This year, the judges were torn between Mike Oliva and Mike Daley.  We all know they drive their MG's "every-where", they show & love their cars!  This year, we gave them each an award - for which each equally deserved such recognition! Paul Hinchcliffe (center) presents to Jerry Gougen Award to dual

recipients Mike Daley (le&) and Mike Oliva.

Dick Hopfner AwardDick passed away rather suddenly in Septem-ber 2002 after a brief illness. Those who knew Dick, understand how much he meant to all of us. He was the 23rd member to sign up for the newly formed Cape Cod British Car Club. We thought we had a big club....little did we know.Dick was a terrific guy who was always willing to help the club or an individual in any way he could. He was our "Graphic Design Guy" and even offered to be the Webmaster during the infancy of the club's website. Although he really didn't know much about the subject, he was willing to try to learn it if it would help the club. Dick's humor was legendary and he was renowned for his playful jabs especially regard-ing the superiority of Triumphs over MGs. You could depend on him to inject some fun into a social gathering, especially the monthly meeting at the Sand-wich BBC.This award is sponsored by Paul Jacobson, a close personal friend of Dick's and was presented this year by Kevin Thompson. It is presented to the CCBCC Clubmember who most demonstrates an unfailing dedica-tion to our club during the past year, an individual who consistently goes above and beyond to better the club. This year’s award went to Rich Finlay.

Prince of Darkness AwardFrom the Lucas Prince of Darkness Judge: A rewrite of what I said or should have said for the presentation of this coveted award. As you all know, we have the reliable Lucas electrical components in our little British cars along with the warning - Home Before Dark ! Well, there are some folks out there that do dare tamper with this stuff & have inevitably paid the price. On Friday night, at the Meet & Greet a MGB with a Chevy V6 and no Lucas electricals in it, was cursed by the Lucas Gods whom delayed his departure when He tried to start it. Reverse Karma I believe it's called. A lesson learned, I hope! The owner, Ric Poole happened to win theRusty Nuts Award! (see below) On Saturday, as about 20 cars gathered for the wash your car inside & out tour, a famous Bugeye, bugged out before it started because it konked out twice enroute to the start point. Another Lucas moment for sure.. About 12 cars actually made the H20 Tour and the Lucas Gods where wanting one TR3 in particular. It 1st started with a simple tail/brake light bulb turning black. Then a wiper motor fuse (should have used Rain-X Much safer) smoking up. The fuse problem was further diagnosed by the placing of the hand on the scorch-ing hot wiper motor (Ouch *^#K+!*):(  Pete, now realized that making the wiper blades longer than the wind-screen was not a good idea. To further Pee Off the Lucas Gods he added a modern looking fuse center which contains 5 Barney purple relays and attached a Lucas label on the underside of the cover (such audacity). No wonder it rained so hard, the Lucas Gods were crying with insult. But they got their revenge and thus Peter Bachand was bestowed with the Lucas Prince of Darkness Award. As told by "Frank Frett" 2009 Lucas Prince of Darkness Judge

Rusty Nuts AwardAwarding Rick Poole's MG for the Rusty Nuts Award was quite simple.• The car arrived at the M&G Friday night (after being

jump started by a fellow club member) - but didn't make it to the big show.

• Hot start issues inerrant in that particular Chevy en-gine

• Chevy engine???  Yup.  Nor MG mill under that bonnet

• Differential?  It may be from a Camaro.  Nobody really knows

• Tires?  They're so old, they don't even have the date of manufacture embossed - Pre-1990?  And they had more cracks than the San Andreas Fault.  As an added feature - each tire was custom grooved to allow them to roll without hitting the fenders - anymore than they used to.

• Front bumper - no bolts on the starboard side - just duct tape.• Wheels - J. C. Whitney - made in Sri Lanka for the Taiwanese YeuLong Sport Couple - popular in the early

1980's.  Actually no - they were never popular.• The rattle in the right rear of the car?  Not yet detected by the owner?  A wrench inadvertently welded

into the rear quarter panel during restoration.

Other than that, that little MGB was pristine.

VALVE COVER RACES

This year newcomer Piper Zoe Smith destroyed all she faced, including the dreaded Thompson Terror. An extremely distraught Kevin Thompson could not be reached for comment on this story. He is said to be recovering from his loss somewhere on the Cape.

50/50 RAFFLE

There is currently an FBI investigation looking into alleged corruption in the club after 50/50 raffle organizer Roberta Rousseau picked her own name to claim a prize of over $200.00. Berta was last seen leaving the show with a Mr. Frank Frett.

British Beer Company Bar Maid – Pick of ShowPaul Hinchcliffe had the extreme pleasure of escorting the lovely British Beer Company Bar Maid around the car show pointing out the various Marques and ex-plaining what their differences were.  Jackie was pretty much an LBC lady and had her own idea of what differences mattered and didn't!  Her short list included the Mini, MGTD, MGA, TR3, Spitfire and vintage Jag.  When it came down to the final selection, the words just rolled off her full, ruby, red lips ... "There's something about that Lollipop...that Luscious Lolli-pop, Red, 1952, 120, Jag Coupe that gave me the quivers ... winning me over!".  Gave me the quivers as well! She chose Ken Loring's Jag!  Ken was advised to stop in at the BBC for a
