Technical Data
The band-pass filter is used when severalfrequencies are to be attenuated outside anarrow passband. It is particularly suitable for laboratory testpurposes, because of its ease of tuning.
It can be used:– to improve the input selectivity of receivers
and amplifiers,– to increase the isolation of transmitters
whose respective antennas are mountedclose together,
– to suppress noise sidebands and inter-modulation products,
– as a combiner component.
Design and construction:The band-pass filter consists of capacitivelyshortened λ/4 coaxial resonators. Theresonators of the multicavity band-pass filterare interconnected by cables of λ/4 length. Thepass band frequency and the insertion loss aretunable.
Filter characteristics:Narrow passband with low insertion loss, highstop-band attentuation. Variable filter curvesare possible in order to meet the desired stop-band attentuation.
Tuning:The band-pass filter is tuned to the desiredpassband frequency and insertion loss at thefactory. Please specify desired pass bandfrequency and insertion loss (curve A, B, C)when ordering.
The band-pass filter can also be tuned on sitefollowing the instructions provided.

Band-stop Filter890 … 960 MHz
Technical Data
The band-stop filter is used when individualfrequencies are to be attenuated. It is particularly suitable for laboratory testpurposes, because of its ease of tuning.
It can be used:– to attenuate interfering signals,– to increase the isolation between a trans-
mitter and a receiver,– to suppress intermodulation products.
Design and construction:The band-stop filter consists of capacitivelyshortened λ/4 coaxial resonators. Theresonators of the multicavity band-stop filterare interconnected by cables of λ/4 length. The stop band frequency and the stop bandattenuation are tunable.
Filter characteristics:Narrow stop band with high stop bandattenuation, low insertion loss outside thestop band range.
Tuning:The band-stop filter is tuned to the desiredstop band frequency and stop bandattenuation at the factory. When ordering please specify stop bandfrequency and stop band attenuation.
The band-stop filter can also be tuned on sitefollowing the instructions provided.
The resonators of the 2-cavity or 3-cavityband-stop filters can be tuned independently. In this way, 2 or 3 different interfering signalscan be suppressed or one single interferingsignal can be especially attenuated.

Hybrid Transmitter Combiner925 – 960 MHz
Technical Data
The hybrid transmitter combiner allows two to four trans-mitters to be combined to a common antenna output.
Special features:– very narrow spacing of the transmitting frequencies,
down to adjacent channel spacing (3 dB/6 dB loss dueto design principle),
– very high isolation between Tx inputs due to built-incirculators,
– easy frequency changing as no tuning is required,– low space requirement due to compact design.
Design and construction:The hybrid transmitter combiner uses hybrid ring junc-tions to combine the transmitters. Each transmitting pathincorporates a wide-band dual circulator with integratedabsorbers. The absorbers are dimensioned for a totalreflection possibly occurring at the output. The dissipa-tion power is fed to the surroundings via the ribbedhousing.
Customized versions:– with a single circulator instead of dual circulator, if
lower isolation between the Tx inputs is sufficient,– with a band-pass filter at the output,– with power monitoring feature,– for higher power.

The 3-dB coupler can be used:– as a decoupled power splitter with a ratio
of 1:1,– for the decoupled combining of two trans-
mitters with frequency spacing as narrow asdesired (at 3 dB loss),
– for the decoupled combining of two receiverswith frequency spacing as narrow as desired,
– for the decoupled combining of two trans-mitter/receiver units, whose integratedduplexers are within the same frequencyrange,
– as a frequency-independent 90° phase shifter,– as a component to form combiners.
Function:The 3-dB coupler has four ports, two of which are decoupled from each other. For exampleeffective power entering into port 1 is distributedinto ports 2 and 3. Port 4 is decoupled andwithout power if ports 2 and 3 are ideallymatched. In practice an absorber of suitablepower at port 4 is to be planned in accordancewith the mismatch of ports 2 and 3. Decoupled combining can be achieved via thediagonally opposite ports 2 and 3 or 1 and 4.
Customized versions:On request couplers with a coupling attenuationof between 3 dB and 10 dB are available.

3-dB Coupler with Cable Absorber806 – 960 MHz
The 3-dB coupler with cable absorber is suitable for combining 2 transmitters or 2 transmitter groups (transmitter combiners) to one commonantenna while achieving very low intermodulation. The frequency spacing between the transmittingfrequencies can be as narrow as required. Fortechnical reasons half the signal power (3 dB) isdissipated by the cable absorber.
Design and construction:The 3-dB coupler with cable absorber consists of a 3-dB coupler and a 10-W load with an inserted 20-dB attenuation cable.
Function:The insertion of a 20-dB attenuation cable causesthe transmission signals to be highly attenuatedbefore they reach the load. Thus only intermodu-lation products of a very low level can be generatedat the load, which are further reduced by 20 dB in the attenuation cable on the return path to theantenna output.

The hybrid ring junction can be used:– as a decoupled power splitter with a ratio
of 1:1,– for the decoupled combining of two transmitters
with frequency spacing as narrow as desired (at 3 dB loss),
– for the decoupled combining of two receiverswith frequency spacing as narrow as desired,
– for the decoupled combining of two transmitter/receiver units whose integrated duplexers arewithin the same frequency range,
– as component to form combiners.
Function:The Hybrid Ring Junction has four ports, two of which are decoupled from each other. Forexample effective power entering into port 1 isdistributed into ports 2 and 4. Port 3 is decoupledand without power if ports 2 and 4 are ideallymatched. In practice an absorber of suitablepower at port 3 is to be planned in accordancewith the mismatch of ports 2 and 4.Decoupled combining can be achieved via ports 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.

Decoupled Power Splitter806 – 960 MHz
The decoupled power splitter can be used:– for power distribution, e.g. from one common
antenna to several receivers with frequencyspacing as narrow as desired,
– for power distribution, for example: from onetransmitter to several outputs,
– for decoupled combining of several transmitterswith frequency spacing as narrow as desired (at 4.7 dB or 6 dB loss),
– for decoupled combining of several transmitting/receiving units, whose integrated duplexers arewithin the same frequency range.
Function :The decoupled 3:1 power splitter has 3 inputs, oneoutput, and 3 absorber ports. The decoupled 4:1power splitter has 4 inputs, one output, and 4absorber ports. The inputs are only decoupled if theabsorber ports are terminated with 50 Ω loads ofsuitable power.
Dimensioning the absorber:The absorbers of the 3:1 power splitter must bedimensioned so that at least 2/3 of the power fedinto the inputs can be absorbed.Example: If a power of 50 W is fed into every input, then the absorbers must be able to absorb 33 Weach.
The absorbers of the 4:1 power splitter must bedimensioned so that at least 3/4 of the power fedinto the inputs can be absorbed.Example: If a power of 50 W is fed into every input, then the absorbers must be able to absorb 37 Weach.

Circulator890 – 960 MHz
Technical Data
The circulator can be used:– to increase the coupling attenuation
between transmitters, to reduce inter-modulation products,
– to prevent adverse effects of unmatchedload impedance on amplifier performance.
Function:The circulator is a non-reciprocal componentwith low insertion loss in the forwarddirection (1→2) and high attenuation in thereverse direction (2→1). The impedance atthe input (1) of the circulator is constant andindependent of the impedance of thecomponents following. The reflected powerat the output (2) is passed to the absorberport (3), which must be terminated with anabsorber.
Dimensioning of the absorbers:The absorber at port (3) must be dimen-sioned to be able to absorb the maximumpower reflected at output (2).

Note: Unused outputs have to be terminated using a 50-Ω load in order tocomply with the specifications.
The use of the receiver multicoupler 780 066 isappropriate if several receivers are operatedsimultaneously at the same site. With this receivermulticoupler up to 8 receivers can be connected to one common antenna. This results in considerable savings for the antennasystem. The low noise figure and the excellent inter-modulation properties guarantee a high dynamic rangeand thereby improved receiving conditions. This is ofparticular significance in locations where transmitters are also operated next to receivers.
The receiver multicoupler consists of:– a low noise amplifier,– a power splitter,– a voltage supply.
The receiver multicoupler has an active redundancy dueto the two amplifier modules in parallel which are locatedin the low noise amplifier. This means that the receiversmulticoupler still supplies all connected receivers even ifone of the amplifier modules fails. Technical Data
The use of the receiver amplifier 780 164 is highlyrecommended if the transmission line attenuation oflong antenna feeders reduces the quality of the recei-ved signal. The receiver amplifier is built into a weather protectivehousing and can therefore be operated close to thereceiving antenna. It can be wall or mast mounted.
The low noise amplifier consists of:– a preselector filter,– a low noise amplifier,– a DC biasing network.
The installed preselector filter prevents interferencecaused by signals outside the receiving band; forexample caused by signals of transmitters on the sameantenna site. With the two amplifier modules 1 and 2 in parallel, the receiver amplifier has an activeredundancy. This means that the receiver multicouplerstill supplies all connected receivers even if one of theamplifier modules fails. The signal levels in this casedecrease by approximately 6 dB.Additional measures against static discharge andlightning in the preselector filter and the DC biasingnetwork guarantee high reliability and operational safetyfor the receiver amplifier.

The use of the receiver multicoupler 780 251 is appropriate ifseveral receivers are operated simultaneously at the same site. With this receiver multicoupler up to 4 receivers can be connectedto one common antenna. This results in considerable savings for the antenna system. Thelow noise figure and the excellent intermodulation propertiesguarantee a high dynamic range and thereby improve receivingconditions. This is of particular significance in locations wheretransmitters are also operated next to receivers.
The receiver multicoupler consists of:– a preselector filter,– a low noise amplifier unit,– a power splitter,– a supply and alarmunit.
With the two parallel connected amplifier modules which arelocated in the low noise amplifier, the receiver multicoupler has an active redundancy. This means that the receiver multicoupler still supplies all connected receivers even if one of the amplifiermudules fail. The signal levels in this case decreases by approximately 6 dB.Each amplifier module is designed with its own voltage supply. Two alarm outputs are available (open collector), which areactivated if one of the two modules (A 1) or both modules (A 2) fail. The alarms are also indicated on the front panel.
