Here is a a (Authentic) or Muwaththaq (Reliable) adth that gives the number of namesof Allh ( ) and says whoever memorizes them will go to heaven.

    ()

    ( )

Narrated to us Amad b. Ziyd b. Ja`far al -Hamadn ( )1 said `Al b. Ibrhm b. Hshim 2 from his father 3 from Ab al-alt `Abd al -Salm b. li al -Haraw 4 from `Al b. Msa al -Ri from his father from his fathers from `Al

() said, the Messenger of Allh ( ) said: For Allh ( ) has ninety-nine (99)names, whoever does du` by them, he will be answered. And whoever memorizes them 5 will enter jannah . 6

1 Amad b. Ziyd b. al -Hamadn is thiqah (thiqah) according to al- adq (See : al-adqs Kaml al -Dn, vol. 2, pg.369) and al- ill (See: al -ill, al- Khulsah, pg. 19, person # 37).2 `Al b. Ibrhm b. Hshim al -Qumm is thiqah (trustworth) according to al- Najsh (See: al -Najsh, al- Rijl, pg.260, person # 680) and al- ill (See: al- ills al- Khulah , pg. 100, person #45).3 Ibrhm b. Hshim is praised according to al- Najsh (See: al -Najsh, al- Rijl, pg. 16, person # 18), al- s (See: al -s, al-Fihrist , pg. 12, person # 6) and al- ill (See: al -ills al- Khulah , pg. 5, person #9).4 `Abd al- Salm b. li, Ab al -alt al- Haraw is thiqah (thiqah) according to al- Najsh (See: al -Najshs al- Rijl ,pg. 245, person # 643) and al- ill (See: al -ill, al- Khulsah, pg. 117, person # 2). al- s calls Ab al -alt an `m (Sunn) (See: al- ss al- Rijl , pg. 360, person # 5328). al- Khoei contends that Ab al -alt was not an `m , ratherhe was a Sh`ah. Either way, his status a thiqah narrator does not change.5

There is a difference of opinion regarding the words ( man ah ). According to Ibn Athr some say thatit means whoever memorizes them (learns by heart). This adth is also found in Sunn books, and they have translated it as whoever memorizes them . Other people have said it means having knowledge of its meanings and acting by it, while others say having knowledge of it, believing in it, and having certainty of thecharacteristics of Allh.
