About the App
We are preparing to make an app which consists of planning to go to the
cinema. It is similar to the Odeon app but it involves other cinemas such as Empire
& Vue. You are able to:
• watch trailers for upcoming movies,
• pick the genre
• what time you are able to watch it at
• which cinemas are showing it
• how much it will cost
Our Elevator Pitch
We are developing an app to help people who enjoy the cinema but
struggle to plan their outing. It will allow them to plan their night out at the
cinema. This app is targeted at young teenagers/young adults as we believe
they are the type of people who go to the cinema more often. The app will
be on the Apple App Store because we believe that is where we will receive more attention from our target audience.
The 5 Ws
Who - People who want to find a film in a specific genre of their choice.
What – Film Finder
When - When the user wants to watch a film
Where – Anywhere, on their smartphone
Why – Because they want to watch a film
The background situation that we are addressing is that when a group of people
want to watch a film, they struggle to decide what film to watch, what time and
which cinema. This can be easily solved by using our app!
User Profiles
“Yeah that’s a pretty good idea”
“Yeah, I love movies!”
The majority of people said that they would probably get it as they
regularly go to the cinemas and it’s a pain for them to arrange it. One of the main reasons that they would get it as it combines all the different
companies of cinemas (Odeon, Empire and Vue).
What Problems Are We Addressing?
The core problem we are addressing is to make planning to see a
movie much easier by allowing the user to see at which cinemas the films are showing.
It combines all cinemas (Odeon, Empire, Vue etc.)
We have created a website which describes our app and outlines
our app. The website is: thieren.wix.com/mycinema
Key Wireframes
We have gone for quite a
simplistic design
of our app and
this is supposed
to make the
app as user
friendly as
possible but
without making it too dull.
Key Wireframes
If you choose
to search for a
film then you
can select the
film and it will
show you
where the
cinemas are
that show you
film.
Once the black
square has been
selected it will
show you where
your film is being
shown and, of
course, the name
of the cinema.
The Cinemas
will be shown
with black
squares and
your location
will be shown
as a blue
circle( just like
google maps)
Key WireframesWe will have a feature on our app which Is a top ten that will show the tile, genre and a link to the trailer of the film on YouTube.
You can search for a film such as ‘Chappie’ and the film will appear at the top and then similar films in spelling in case there was a typo and then finally similar films to the film itself. As well as the title here will also be a link to the IMDB profile of the film and the trailer on YouTube.
You can also find a film from selecting one of the genres that have been
presented and this will then link to a list of the films which contain a link to the IMDB profile of the film and also the trailer on YouTube
Feasibility, Data and Technical
Our app is feasible to an extent, however a problem
we may have is the fact that we have to update the
information a lot and so can go out of date easily. This
is because many films come out and the top 10 are
constantly changing.
Business Case and Customer Pledges
For people to use our app they must have agreed to
have read the terms and conditions. They must also
enable locational services on the actual app as we
require this in our app.
Marketing Strategy
We plan to use the school’s website and have a link to
the website that we have created this will therefore
provide us with a flow of people who look at our
website and hopefully download our app
Anything else you want to share?
We have gone for a slick design of our app however it
is also very simplistic so as to make it very easy and
quick to use for our target audience
