Core question:

How can I track my grades, and improve

my results?

Page 3: 9.4 Group 4 Apps for Good Competition Entry 2015

Target market:

Children, and parents who want to track

their children’s results

Page 4: 9.4 Group 4 Apps for Good Competition Entry 2015

PitchWe are developing an app that allows children to:

- Enter all their results in each subject- Look at and track grades, test results, and levels

- - See all your results on a graph, so you can quickly know if you’re getting better or not

- Share grades and communicate with others so they can get tips

- Enter when they have tests and get alerts/notifications - - Set themselves targets and see if they’re meeting them

However it is also aimed at helping parents check their children’s results so they can make sure their children are doing well.

Why is our app also aimed at parents?

Well firstly we found a gap in the market, because all the other grade tracking apps are just for students, and are not easy to use for parents.

Furthermore, tracking grades is very important for parents to see how their children are doing, especially seeing how in modern schools parents can rarely see what their children are doing, and struggle to see what even happens at their school.

Book RecommendationsO We could include an extra feature which recommends good books

to read for revision or interest, these books could be sold from large online retailers like Amazon, and by advertising their books we could make money.

O This feature would improve our app even more, and make it even more unique because no other apps contain this feature.

O This would help users using our app, because it is often hard to find helpful, yet interesting, books to read for revision.

O This feature would encourage more people to buy or download our app.

O The feature could automatically update every week/month, using data obtained from the bestsellers list, but would also have personalised recommendation

What people say about uTrack Grades

Facebook employee (in charge of the public relations division of Facebook) – I think it’s a great idea, especially seeing as now parents rarely know that children’s grades and find it hard to track them. This

app is great for the modern age and could really help parents. However make sure that it is focused at helping parents track their

children’s grades.

Keiran – It’s good to have everything I need in one app. The app is a good concept.

Max G - Sounds really good that people can interact with each other and get help

Aaron – Great idea, it’s good to have graphs

Conclusion from remarks about our app

Everyone gave use great feedback that the app is unique and has cool features that they would definitely use.

If we decide to add the “Book Recommendations” feature it will help keep users using our app, because the recommendations will be updated every week/month according to the bestsellers list.

The feedback given from the Facebook employee has made us ensure that this app is focused on parents.

We have also made a survey and plan to get people to complete, so we can get extra user feedback.

Grade Tracker Pro -Competitor

O The app “grade tracker pro” is similar to our app and also tracks grades.

O However it is adapted to the American system and is not friendly to use.

O It does not allow you to set your own targets, does not show graphs showing your results, and cannot be used by teachers to track the results of multiple students.

O However this app is still very popular and has many downloads, meaning that our app will be even more successful.

O This is a screenshot of the competitor app.

O As you can see the layout is very complicated, and the app is hard to use, making it less popular.

Teacher App & Grade Book - Competitor

O This app is similar to ours, because it also has a calendar, messages, and targets. However it does not allow you to customize it for the system of grades you have at your school, and does not show whether you are improving.

O It also does not show your results on a graph, and a graph lets you easily see what’s happening to your results.

O This is a screenshot of the competitor app.

O The layout is good and easy to use, making it a popular app, however you cannot put the results on a graph and cannot set targets.

O Furthermore the app does not allow teachers to enter in multiple students and see how they are doing.

Conclusion from market research and enquiries:Are we going to include all the features? Or add new

ones?

From our market research we have concluded that these are the features that will be in our app:

Test resultsNotifications

TargetsMessages

(Book recommendations)*

Business Model:

Our app is most likely going to cost around the £1.99 mark because it has a lot of features and enables you to do a lot of

things that are very important for students of any age, but also allows parents to check their children's’ progress.

Furthermore we have filled a niche in the app market; our app is the only app that lets you track your grades, shows them on

graphs, set targets, and message other people for help, and also has an easy interface. If we opt for this business model we make a free “lite” version that only has one feature that

you can use.

Or our app will be free, but will include advertisements for books sold by retailers such as Amazon, so we could make

money from the app.

Marketing Strategy

We could advertise our app through websites such as BBC Bitesize, that could give references

to our app.

We could also advertise our app on websites that specialize in education and revision, and

could even have links to our app on the appstore from Amazon.
