Why Download Our App?

Our app is called Family Connections. The inspiration behind our app was that, nowadays, a lot of families live across many different

countries with various time zones and this makes it difficult to communicate. This is where our app comes in as the idea is to use the app to arrange calls with your relatives at a time that suits both

of you. It suggests possible times to call through notifications. There is a huge gap in the market which our app intends to fill. We

will use advertisement as our main source of revenue whilst keeping it a free app. This app is likely to continue to be relevant in the

future due to transport advances and the increase in people emigrating around the globe.

Problem we are Addressing

The problem that our app is addressing is how people can communicate in different

countries. Many people are unaware of the time differences. A possible scenario is that a

British caller in the morning could call an American cousin whilst they are sleeping. Our

app can easily solve this problem by suggesting the ideal times to call overseas

contacts.

What we Learnt From our Survey

We discovered 88.9% of people have family living abroad. 71% of people said that they either struggled or sometimes struggled to communicate with them. 56% said that and app like this would help solve this problem and make communication easier. 50% said that they would download an app like ours. Most people said they would not pay for it, meaning a free app would be the best way forward.

The Question we are Addressing

How can families that live around the world communicate in a

practical manner and with ease?

What Problem is Our Solving

Families are becoming more international everyday and so our app can help these people connect with each other as the notifications tell the user when to

talk with their family in a different time zone. This makes it easy to use so almost anyone can use it and there is huge gap in the market for an app that

makes communication far easier.

What apps like ours are on the market already?

We only found one app like ours which is called Meeting Planner, but it is only

available on the App Store and is also designed for business whereas ours

specifically targets family and friends.

The best features our app will offer:

It sends notifications to your device, advising the best times to call specific contacts.

You can specify the times you are available to call others – notifications will not be received when you

are not available.

The simple interface will mean users can easily and quickly set up their preferences.

Will it Work Well?

The size of the screen works well with the app as

the amount of data on screen is in proportion to

the screen size. This makes the app easy to use for

everyone and so it can go out to a wider audience.

Our app relies on the content of the app as we are

not putting too much content on each page and

we are making it as simple as possible so that

almost anyone of any age can download the app

and use it.

Business Case & Customer pledges

We have chosen to make our app free and make

our main source of revenue through advertising.

This is because, through our survey, we found that

most people wouldn’t pay for the app with only a

few saying that they would pay a small amount.

50%-60% of people who took the survey said that

they would download an app like ours if the

found it. This shows that we already have an

audience ready to download the app when it

comes out.

Marketing Strategy

Our first way of marketing our idea is via

social media. These include Twitter and

Instagram to help our audience grow. We

have also made a video which can be found

on YouTube which is an enormous network

and could potentially be a source of

additional revenue – with one of our

members having experience on the site. Our

app could receive recognition through this

medium. Another part of our strategy is

producing a website that we made that is

user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.

Extra Information

We have made a website for our app which

includes a brief explanation, the survey, our

video advert, and a link to our social media.

We have presented our work at school and

have received very positive feedback for our

app. We also have social media in the form of

Twitter and are working on an Instagram
