9.3 group 5 apps for good competition entry 2015
TRANSCRIPT
We are designing an informative
app which will be targeting dyslexic
children and their parents. We will
provide advice, tips and ways to
help children which suffer from
dyslexia. There are other apps on
app Stores but they do not deliver
information about dyslexia and we
will do just that.
Mini Elevator Pitch
Who – children suffering from dyslexia and their parents
What – an informative app to help educate and give
advice
When – this is a growing problem and we think it should
be tackled as soon as possible
Where –we aim to make it an easily accessible app for
everyone to use, at a small cost for this valuable info
Why –we think that dyslexia is a serious problem and it
should be tackled as soon as possible to help people
suffering from this serious problem
Our app will help people who
have a fairly common disease
called dyslexia. We will make
the dyslexic children and their
parents confident and help
them fight their disorder by
supplying them with tips and
advice. These will help children
during their everyday lives
Many of the possible users feel as if it is just a
hindrance, not really affecting them, if they have
minor dyslexia. However, users that have major
dyslexia have stated that this app would be more
helpful for them as they are affected much more
and require assistance whereas people with
minor dyslexia. Many people with major dyslexia
are currently seeking help, meaning that this app
will be very helpful for them.
Users Thoughts
How can you help people battle
dyslexia?
How will this help them?
What will make this app stand out and
be different to other apps within the
marketing world?
Possible Questions
Our app will help the users by giving them tips and advice about how to battle dyslexia.
This will help them as the tips and tricks will provide them with helpful methods to battle dyslexia.
Our app will stand out as there are currently no other apps that do this, dyslexia apps will be shown
on the next slide.
Answers
Google Play:
There were several apps, but they did not do what our app does.
For example, they were games or readers.
Dyslexia |Your News Read Aloud- This app is the highest rated
app of all of the dyslexia app, which several people have rates,
showing the need for a dyslexia app. This app only reads out
websites, bypassing the problem of reading, which our app will
target.
Dyslexia Game- Letter Blob- This app is simply a game, not
targeting dyslexia. I would expect this app to have a targeted
audience of small children. This app only costs £0.62, so it is very
cheap.
ITunes Store:
There were several apps on the
iTunes store all costed quite a lot and
did not seem to inform the dyslexic
people how to help them deal with
dyslexia, the purpose of our app.
DysLektz- This may not be as
appealing as you require an account,
and many people would like to
preserve their status of being dyslexic.
Dyslexia Detector- This app only
detects if you have dyslexia, so it
could be considered hurtful.
Dyslexia Exercises- This app only
combats dyslexia, whereas ours will
give you information. This app also
costs £2.99
Dyslexia Help- This app is very costly
at a price of £8.99. Also, it is just a
game so we believe that it would not
really affect your dyslexia.
Dyslexia Tool Kit- This app only tells
stories about others, which may help,
giving the person ideas, but is not
anything like our app. It also costs
£3.99.
Amazon Store:
There were barely any apps related to dyslexia, the two are shown
below, and these were both aimed at adults.
Adult Dyslexia Guide- This apps target audience is adults, whereas
ours is targeted at children. This app does not seem great as it has
only been rated 1 star by two people, the only two reviews. However,
this app may be more appealing as it is free.
Health Book- This is a general health information app, not
necessarily aimed at dyslexia. It is also only aimed at adults, whereas
our app is aimed at dyslexic children and their parents.
Other app stores
The only problem that we may have is that
our app is an informative app, meaning that
once they have read it, it will be less useful.
However, we will combat this by having a
cornucopia of information so the user will
not want to delete the app. To make our app
more user friendly, we will arrange the
information into several pages, allowing the
user to search for a particular topic with
ease.
Problem
Many of our customers have stated
that they would pay for this app.
However, they stated that they
would not want it to cost too much;
the maximum of two pounds. This
meant that we did not have to alter
our app in any way, showing that it
would be quite popular.
