Group Activity Time provides an active learning

experience to review lesson concepts.

   “ G o d  i s  n e a r  to me w hen  I  a m …”     P s a l m 7  5:1

What you need:  several types of books (ex. nursery rhyme book, dictionary,

Bible, picture book, atlas)

What you do:  Have the children sit on the floor. Pick out a book and ask the

children, “Is this God’s letter to us?” The kids will answer “yes” or “no.” Talk about

the book and what helpful information can come from it. Repeat with the other

books, asking the same question each time a new book is held up. Hold up the

Bible last.

What you say:  Today in our story we learned about how King David wrote about

God. He knew that God was always near to him. King David’s words about God are

in the Bible. Do you think God is near to us too? We know that God is near from

what the Bible says.

 What you need:  nothing

What you do:  Have the children sit on the floor. Choose one child to be first.

Whisper in his ear a place where God can be with you. The child will then act it out

with the other children guessing. Play until all children that want a turn have had

one.

Places: dentist’s office, grocery store, walking your dog, playing with your toys,

driving/riding in a car, swimming in the pool, taking a nap in your room, playing

soccer/baseball, eating dinner

What you say: Today in our story we learned about how King David wrote about

God. He knew that God was always near to him. King David’s words about God are

in the Bible. Do you think God is near to us too? He is here and near to us no matter

where we are.

 What you need:  nothing

What you do:  Have the children choose a partner and sit down. Give the children

the following directions one at a time: How many freckles are on your partner’s

arm? How many hairs are on your partner’s head? How many fingers does your

partner have? How many arms does your partner have?

What you say:  Boys and girls, were you able to answer all of the questions that

I asked of you? How many arms does your friend have? How many freckles? How

many hairs on his or her head? Some of the questions we could answer, but some

of them only God can answer. The Bible says that God knows everything about us.

Who did we learn about today that wrote about God in the Bible? King David wrote

about how God knows everything about us.
