Orange County Transportation Authority Published: October 2010 Connector Closure and Detour Alert Starts October 8, 2010 Connector Work Helps Fuel Project Completion Caltrans and OCTA will soon finish the SR-91 Eastbound Lane Addition Project. As the project nears completion, crews will realign the eastbound SR-91 (EB SR-91) to northbound SR-71 (NB SR-71) connector to improve driving operations in this area. To perform the work as safely and quickly as possible, the EB SR-91 to NB SR-71 connector will be closed for 15 full days. Safe and Simple Detour in Place During the closure, commuters will follow a safe and simple detour to transition from EB SR-91 to NB SR-71. By following these simple directions, you’ll be on the road to your destination: 91 Corona Green River Rd. Commuter Notification 15-Day Closure of Eastbound SR-91 to Northbound SR-71 Starts Midnight Friday, Oct. 8 and Reopens Saturday, Oct. 23 Closure Provides a Simple Detour for Commuters; a Safe Work Space for Crews Travel 1 1/2 miles east past SR-91/SR-71 interchange Exit Serfas Club Drive Turn left on Serfas Club Drive Turn left onto westbound SR-91 Travel west on SR-91 Transition to northbound SR-71 About the SR-91 Eastbound Lane Addition Project Construction of the SR-91 Eastbound Lane Addition Project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. When completed, the project will deliver: New 5.9-mile eastbound lane 12-foot lanes to improve driving conditions throughout the project area 12-foot shoulder area with new guardrails and concrete barriers 10 new retaining walls 5 widened bridges This project is the first in a series of freeway improvement projects designed to increase capacity, relieve congestion, and enhance operations for a better drive on SR-91 between Orange and Riverside counties. The SR-91 Eastbound Lane Addition Project will be completed by the end of 2010.
